[Closed]
WHO: Yuuri & Karamatsu
WHERE: Shopping Centre
WHEN: Backdated to 1/15
WHAT: A casual friend date
WARNINGS: None, unless Karamatsu needs to come with a warning of his own.
[After exchanging texts with Karamatsu, the morning seems to pass by more slowly than before. Volunteering for the gamma mission and being on high-alert for a couple days means that Yuuri mentally has to adjust to being back on the ship again. Finally, though, the clock hands just about reach the numbers he's been watching for and Yuuri dutifully clocks out before he heads for the elevators.
He's still a little early when he reaches their meeting spot, and there's no sign of Karamatsu yet. Yuuri ends up firing off a quick text, if only so that he has something to do while he waits.]

I'm here.

This, however, was something he needed. Good, honest time with somebody else. His intentions for Yuuri weren't romantic, surprisingly enough for somebody who hits on everything that breathes, but his impression was probably put on a little heavy. It's always like that, though.
Yuuri is there before Karamatsu gets there, and Yuuri will see him strutting his way towards him, chest puffed out, and a plastic comb in his hand to comb through his hair was he walked. Finally, he's close enough to Yuuri that he stops and snaps one of his fingers. ]
—I've arrived.. fashionably late.
[ why. ]

Not too late. It's only been a few minutes. [Yuuri says reasonably, though his eyes keep flicking up to the comb in Karamatsu's hand, as if he can't help himself.] What's--why did you bring that along?
no subject
Karamatsu's brows lift and he runs his thumb along the teeth of the comb. ]
Believe it or not, there are rare moments in my life where I don't look quite as handsome, and that is when my hair is a mess.
I want to look handsome, especially when going out with a friend.
Why? Do you want to have the delight of borrowing it?
no subject
No, thanks. I combed my hair before I left. [He manages to say it with a straight face.] I thought yours looked fine the way it was already.
[Yuuri tilts a head toward the row of shops awaiting them.] Ready to go?
no subject
.....
Thank you! Yours looks.. dashing as well!
[ but then, right, he remembers the real reason they met up and bobs is head once in a nod. ]
Heh. I don't think I have ever had space sushi before [ why does he make it sound like that is even an option for him ] so I am not sure what to think.
[ He puts his hands in his pockets and looks over at Yuuri. ]
What kind is your favorite back home?
[ he loves knowing.. there's another Japanese guy here on the ship that he feels comfortable talking to. ]
no subject
Mmm, I don’t know if I have a favorite type of sushi, but I always stuck with salmon and tuna back home whenever I had sushi. I actually preferred eating rice bowls instead.

I am more fond of karaage myself.
[ it's so nice knowing that Yuuri knows what that is and he doesn't have to explain it. ]
As far as sushi goes, fried Godzilla roll has to be one of my favorites.
[ He wonders if eating space sushi will give him the feeling of how foreigners feel in Japan when they try sushi for the first time. ]

Didn't get to eat it too often, though. When you're an athlete, your diet's really restricted.
[He adds the last part a little mournfully, but brightens as they finally reach the restaurant.] Oh, here it is. [And don't mind him just opening the door for Karamatsu as someone chimes a greeting from the reception area.]

An athlete? What is it you do for a living then?

[Yuuri flags down a waiter, who grabs a couple menus and then leads them to a booth. Once they're sitting down, Yuuri smiles shyly at Karamatsu over the table.]
It's sort of reassuring that we can find places like this here. I think it'd be much harder to adjust to space if there weren't.
