WHO: Team Voltron
WHERE: The Castle of Lion's Bridge
WHEN: 2/11
WHAT: The team's first official meeting while in the Eluvio's fleet. Allura gives the low-down about what the newcomers have missed.
WARNINGS: Mentions of Oros; death/planet obliteration/refugees/etc.

[The arrival of Coran, Keith, Pidge, and Lance had been a muddled mix of relief, concern, and confusion. While Coran seemed to have been taken from the exact moment both Shiro and her remember, the others...appear to have been taken from different points in time. This calls into question the nature of these anomalies, and also the vague glimmer of...she hesitates to call it hope, but it's something that at least changes her concerns about being here while the Galra are still terrorizing the universe she knows.

But, even if their being here apparently does not change what happens back in their familiar universe, the nature of the Eluvio, these anomalies, and the missions they've so far gone through still effect them while they're here, and as proven by the failed mission of Oros and the loss of an entire planet and thousands of lives, these missions effect far more than just the crew.

So, Allura has called for a meeting, already having discussed the basics with Coran. She's talked in length about Oros as the others sit in their stations on the Bridge, discussing key facts about the missions at large, that teams had been sent down to retrieve a Relic they still know little of, how other teams had been sent down to research and observe the planet, its natives, and its ecosystem as large. How the retrieval of the Relic, while successful, had ultimately failed, something triggering nuclear explosions which rendered Oros, the planet and its natives, doomed to ultimate destruction. Something which no doubt had to do with the Eluvio teams having been on the planet.

Her tone is even, but harsh, when she talks of the crew only being able to save around a hundred Trilk and Fek before Oros was completely obliterated, that she had tried to bring the Castle-ship down to the planet in an attempt to save more lives, only to be forcibly denied by higher ups of the Eluvio's crew.

And with that, she makes the gathered files of the mission available for the rest of the team to look at in their own time, highlighting the importance of interacting with the refugee Fek and Trilk.

She stands at her hub, hands clasped behind her.
]

I am...sorry that I had to tell you all this, but I feel that you must all be informed of what has happened before you arrived here.

I do not trust the Eluvio and its pre-existing crew in the slightest.

((OOC NOTE: please feel free to make your own top levels! Characters can explicitly ask Allura questions, or talk amongst themselves!))

[ through allura's explanation, shiro is quiet and largely still, standing behind her and a little to the side, his jaw clenched and his gaze distant. at times, he nods. the other paladins probably don't need to see the tension in his shoulders or his jaw to realise that he hates what happened, with hate really feeling like too weak a descriptor. how does one cope with the loss of an entire planet? it wasn't shiro's fault and it wasn't his planet, but there's still an immensity to it, to the choices that they all had to make in rescuing trilk and fek alike that weighs on him. ]

I agree with Allura. [ he says when she's finished. ] The crew has been keeping information from the people brought in by anomalies, they've been treating us as expendable and as tools, and it's led to this.

[ It's a lot to take in all at once. Keith sits there as patiently as he can and listens to what Allura has to say. Though he's listening to her, he's also flipping through the information she gave them about the planet. Some of it is, well, similar to what he's growing to think of as normal. ( Which isn't a good thing. ) But, there's something niggling in the back of his mind that he knows he probably shouldn't say because it's probably going to be met with dissent.

And, even though he tells himself half a dozen times to just not say anything and go along with the majority, he finds the words bubbling to the surface anyway. ]

That doesn't really seem fair, though. They helped save the Trilk and Fek.

[ That has to mean something, doesn't it? He shifts, glancing around at everyone before back to Allura. ]

I mean, from what I've seen they have a pretty big crew. Not all of them can be untrustworthy.

[ Because that's just too big of a generalization. They've already learned—or, some of them have if the timeline disparity can be believed—that not all the Galra are bad. Not even all humans are bad! There's just something about lumping everyone together that just doesn't sit right with Keith. ]

[ Yeah, see? He's just not liking this at all. Because he's been questioning a lot about himself lately—which, of course, he's been keeping to himself because that's just the ~allure~ of Keith—and because he's had the chance to meet Ulaz and talk to him some and learning about the Blade of Marmora...

He just thinks there are different sides to every story. It's not that he's aiming to cause trouble, but he just doesn't think this is fair. Especially when he wasn't here to experience this for himself. Not that Keith thinks Allura is lying or anything, but he knows she's stubborn and might not be able to see the other side of this because of what's happened to her.

So, he doesn't back down. ]

Okay, but maybe there was a reason you couldn't go down there? [ He doesn't know because, again, he wasn't here. ] And how do you know it was to their benefit? What benefit is there?

[ He sighs and rolls a shoulder in a shrug. ]

I just think you're being a little... [ ??? ] hasty.

[ There's a moment where Keith debates with himself on if he should say anything further or not. It's becoming clear that Allura doesn't want to see another side of this, so arguing over something he had no involvement in to begun with.

But, he's also never really been good at backing down and letting things go when he should.  ]

Well, it sounds like they were trying to keep people already up here safe. [ He gestures to the device with the info she'd given them. ] Why are these species considered innocent and not the people aboard the ship already? I'm not saying you're right or wrong, or that this other crew is right or wrong. But you seem like you don't want to see this any way but yours.

[ He slumps back in his chair and rubs a hand over his face. His tone is quieter, ]

I just don't think that's fair.

[ Pidge listens with growing concern as Allura goes over what's happened so far here on Eluvio. The mission, the death of a planet, the loss of innocent lives... She doesn't like it. She settles into her seat, brow furrowed in thought as she tries to think through an explanation for all of this. ]

Have we considered that maybe they're not telling the truth about us being brought here "randomly" and that there's some other sort of plan going on here? I mean, it just so happens that all of us were brought here by chance. If it's really random...

[ She shakes her head. ]

We should still do what we can to help people, though.

I've considered it. I still am.

[ shiro distrusts the crew of the eluvio more and more with each passing day and each moment that they don't pass on information that they must have, that would be useful. ]

We don't have any indication that they're not telling the truth about the anomalies, but we don't really have much indication that they are, either.
coran: (this extra young man....)

[personal profile] coran 2017-02-13 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ Coran makes it a point to try to stand nearer to Allura than not through her story, straight-backed and grave. The events and explanations don't come as a surprise to him, having been briefed on the basics earlier, but it doesn't make it any less saddening to hear it retold in more intimate detail.

A planet is a terrible thing to lose.

He can't imagine how it must have felt to witness it. ]

It seems we'll need to tread with caution as long as we're here.

[ Nothing says tread with caution like an enormous laser-armed castle and four giant robot lions, right. ]

I'm less worried about us and more worried about the impact all of this might have in the future on people who can't look after themselves as well.

[ people who don't have giant robot lions or a laser-armed castle, for example... ]
coran: (u poor child)

[personal profile] coran 2017-02-22 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ What a place this would be, if everyone could have giant robot lions and a laser-armed castle. Probably a cooler place. ]

You can't expect to look after all of them if you don't remember to look after yourselves, too!

[ Can Coran pointedly look at every single other person in this room? Physically, no, probably impossible. Still, that's the spirit in his words, lacking in their standard level of excitability though they may be. ]

But you do have a point.

[personal profile] bayarm 2017-02-23 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ probably cooler, maybe also more dangerous because there's people everywhere who would abuse having that kind of power at their fingertips. ]

Right. [ watch shiro agree while not really internalizing the point. ] There's some people here who've never held a weapon or been in a fight. I don't want them getting hurt.

[personal profile] coran 2017-02-28 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ Incredible. It flew right over Shiro's head, like a delicate ribbon caught in a sudden breeze.

Well.

They'll have time to work on that yet. ]

There's no shortage of advanced training facilities out here. Maybe this fleet can work together to organize some training for beginners!

[personal profile] bayarm 2017-02-28 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[ it sure did. ]

I've been thinking about that. Self-defence classes, that kind of thing.

[personal profile] coran 2017-03-01 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Could be useful to get into that. If we can't control the situations everyone's going to get into, we can at least make sure everyone is better prepared to respond to them! Otherwise you're just signing on for a lot of chaos and angry shouting next time things get out of hand.
bayarm: PLEASE DNT (— 016)

[personal profile] bayarm 2017-03-04 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Chaos and shouting and worst case scenario, people dying.

[ some of the situations people have already been in make shiro think that they have to be prepared. and it seems that the crew is happy enough to throw those here because of the anomalies to the wolves. ]
coran: (........... anyway)

[personal profile] coran 2017-03-06 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
-- well yes, there's that, too! [ There's a point in life when all you can do is throw on a show for good cheer. Coran knows that point intimately. ]
bayarm: (‹ PRETTEH ›)

[personal profile] bayarm 2017-03-06 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ there's something grounding about coran's cheer. the earth turns, water is wet, coran is cheerful. shiro knows it isn't that simple, and yet, it's something he's already gotten used to. it earns coran a smile, now. ]

So, classes. Have you taught any before?
coran: (oh wait really?)

[personal profile] coran 2017-03-07 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I taught you Paladins a thing or two, didn't I? I think I could handle helping out a few of our fellow passengers!

[ Honestly Coran that isn't worth much on your resume. Like at all. ]
bayarm: (‹ ZARKON ›)

[personal profile] bayarm 2017-03-08 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ honestly? it's good enough for shiro. coran did teach them more than just a thing or two. it might have been three or even four things!! ]

That's good to hear.
