WHO: Team Voltron
WHERE: The Castle of Lion's Bridge
WHEN: 2/11
WHAT: The team's first official meeting while in the Eluvio's fleet. Allura gives the low-down about what the newcomers have missed.
WARNINGS: Mentions of Oros; death/planet obliteration/refugees/etc.
[The arrival of Coran, Keith, Pidge, and Lance had been a muddled mix of relief, concern, and confusion. While Coran seemed to have been taken from the exact moment both Shiro and her remember, the others...appear to have been taken from different points in time. This calls into question the nature of these anomalies, and also the vague glimmer of...she hesitates to call it hope, but it's something that at least changes her concerns about being here while the Galra are still terrorizing the universe she knows.
But, even if their being here apparently does not change what happens back in their familiar universe, the nature of the Eluvio, these anomalies, and the missions they've so far gone through still effect them while they're here, and as proven by the failed mission of Oros and the loss of an entire planet and thousands of lives, these missions effect far more than just the crew.
So, Allura has called for a meeting, already having discussed the basics with Coran. She's talked in length about Oros as the others sit in their stations on the Bridge, discussing key facts about the missions at large, that teams had been sent down to retrieve a Relic they still know little of, how other teams had been sent down to research and observe the planet, its natives, and its ecosystem as large. How the retrieval of the Relic, while successful, had ultimately failed, something triggering nuclear explosions which rendered Oros, the planet and its natives, doomed to ultimate destruction. Something which no doubt had to do with the Eluvio teams having been on the planet.
Her tone is even, but harsh, when she talks of the crew only being able to save around a hundred Trilk and Fek before Oros was completely obliterated, that she had tried to bring the Castle-ship down to the planet in an attempt to save more lives, only to be forcibly denied by higher ups of the Eluvio's crew.
And with that, she makes the gathered files of the mission available for the rest of the team to look at in their own time, highlighting the importance of interacting with the refugee Fek and Trilk.
She stands at her hub, hands clasped behind her.]
I am...sorry that I had to tell you all this, but I feel that you must all be informed of what has happened before you arrived here.
I do not trust the Eluvio and its pre-existing crew in the slightest.

I agree with Allura. [ he says when she's finished. ] The crew has been keeping information from the people brought in by anomalies, they've been treating us as expendable and as tools, and it's led to this.
no subject
And, even though he tells himself half a dozen times to just not say anything and go along with the majority, he finds the words bubbling to the surface anyway. ]
That doesn't really seem fair, though. They helped save the Trilk and Fek.
[ That has to mean something, doesn't it? He shifts, glancing around at everyone before back to Allura. ]
I mean, from what I've seen they have a pretty big crew. Not all of them can be untrustworthy.
[ Because that's just too big of a generalization. They've already learned—or, some of them have if the timeline disparity can be believed—that not all the Galra are bad. Not even all humans are bad! There's just something about lumping everyone together that just doesn't sit right with Keith. ]
no subject
Because that's just how she is sometimes.]
They only helped save the Trilk and Fek to their own benefit. I had been prepared to pilot the Castle-ship down to rescue as many lives as possible, a venture which had been halted by the crew almost immediately without further consideration.
[She narrows her eyes a bit, crossing her arms as though to punctuate how set she is on this belief.]
Some may be trustworthy; we know others have been brought in through similar anomalies, but not all have been given access to the network for some reason. But it is too much of a risk without thorough investigation.
And I am not keen on risking betrayal.

He just thinks there are different sides to every story. It's not that he's aiming to cause trouble, but he just doesn't think this is fair. Especially when he wasn't here to experience this for himself. Not that Keith thinks Allura is lying or anything, but he knows she's stubborn and might not be able to see the other side of this because of what's happened to her.
So, he doesn't back down. ]
Okay, but maybe there was a reason you couldn't go down there? [ He doesn't know because, again, he wasn't here. ] And how do you know it was to their benefit? What benefit is there?
[ He sighs and rolls a shoulder in a shrug. ]
I just think you're being a little... [ ??? ] hasty.
no subject
Well, she's not being dismissive to be mean. She just believes her line of thinking is more informed than his.]
The only reason they gave me was that they believed my bringing the Castle down would create chaos if the Trilk and Fek were not all brought through the Eluvio's hangar. They placed their desire for order over the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of innocents. [She takes a breath, arms still crossed, and exhaling a bit rougher than she intended before continuing.] I am not completely sure of the benefit, perhaps it was simply to save face and make it seem that this was truly an accident.
I do not think it hasty to be untrustworthy of those who have still not yet told us the reason why we need this Relic. It is being cautious.
no subject
But, he's also never really been good at backing down and letting things go when he should. ]
Well, it sounds like they were trying to keep people already up here safe. [ He gestures to the device with the info she'd given them. ] Why are these species considered innocent and not the people aboard the ship already? I'm not saying you're right or wrong, or that this other crew is right or wrong. But you seem like you don't want to see this any way but yours.
[ He slumps back in his chair and rubs a hand over his face. His tone is quieter, ]
I just don't think that's fair.

Have we considered that maybe they're not telling the truth about us being brought here "randomly" and that there's some other sort of plan going on here? I mean, it just so happens that all of us were brought here by chance. If it's really random...
[ She shakes her head. ]
We should still do what we can to help people, though.
no subject
[ shiro distrusts the crew of the eluvio more and more with each passing day and each moment that they don't pass on information that they must have, that would be useful. ]
We don't have any indication that they're not telling the truth about the anomalies, but we don't really have much indication that they are, either.

A planet is a terrible thing to lose.
He can't imagine how it must have felt to witness it. ]
It seems we'll need to tread with caution as long as we're here.
[ Nothing says tread with caution like an enormous laser-armed castle and four giant robot lions, right. ]
no subject
[ people who don't have giant robot lions or a laser-armed castle, for example... ]
no subject
You can't expect to look after all of them if you don't remember to look after yourselves, too!
[ Can Coran pointedly look at every single other person in this room? Physically, no, probably impossible. Still, that's the spirit in his words, lacking in their standard level of excitability though they may be. ]
But you do have a point.
no subject
Right. [ watch shiro agree while not really internalizing the point. ] There's some people here who've never held a weapon or been in a fight. I don't want them getting hurt.
no subject
Well.
They'll have time to work on that yet. ]
There's no shortage of advanced training facilities out here. Maybe this fleet can work together to organize some training for beginners!
no subject
I've been thinking about that. Self-defence classes, that kind of thing.
no subject

[ some of the situations people have already been in make shiro think that they have to be prepared. and it seems that the crew is happy enough to throw those here because of the anomalies to the wolves. ]

no subject
So, classes. Have you taught any before?
no subject
[ Honestly Coran that isn't worth much on your resume. Like at all. ]
no subject
That's good to hear.
