we're all the same
WHO: Ichimatsu and Karamatsu
WHERE: The Atrium
WHEN: Forward-dated to February 18th
WHAT: SOME CRAZY SHIT. Event shenanigans.
WARNINGS: Blood, innards, gore, gross, probably vomit, gross, dismembered and scattered body parts, please don't read this if you're squeamish I got a little carried away and tend to forget that this is gross and unpleasant for people to read gndfjkhfgn.
[In a lot of ways, it made sense. They were rooming together, for a reason he still couldn't articulate his reasoning behind, so they'd been locked in their room when everything started happening. But why in the hell were they off trying to accomplish anything together? At least it wasn't Todomatsu, who was afraid of the dark, but Karamatsu really wasn't that much less of a pansy. If anything, he was moreso.]
[They'd pried the door to their room open with a lot of struggling and feet and shoulders wedged awkwardly between tiny gaps made with fingers, and Ichimatsu had left some snacks out for Nyanko in hopes that he wouldn't try to follow. He didn't want to lose the cat on the ship on top of everything else, and he was probably safer in their room, once they wedged the door back shut. He hoped they didn't have to pry it back open to get in again later. Maybe shit would be fixed by then. They wandered in the dark hallways with Karamatsu in the lead at first, until he tripped over his own shoes at least four times and Ichimatsu nearly ran head-first into him three of the four, and on the fourth he hissed, spooked into the odd tendency he had to sprout ears and a tail, and stalked ahead of him. "Stay behind me you blind idiot, I'm sick of running into you when you fall."]
[The Atrium seemed like the smartest place to go-- indoor gardens, plenty of windows. Surely they could figure something out if they had more light, right? Surely.]
[He stepped over something along their path that he couldn't properly identify-- it didn't look like a root but he didn't look at it long enough to figure it out, because he didn't really care, and Karamatsu yelped from behind him, tripping over it and grabbing hold of the back of his shirt, nearly dragging him right down with him. A brief scuffle occurred, Ichimatsu swearing and schooling himself to not claw his brother's face off like he wanted, instead turning back to figure out what he'd tripped over. A boot. ...a boot? How the hell had some idiot lost an entire boot? It made his stomach twist uncertainly, because it seemed so out of place. A sneaker maybe would have made sense, a sandal easy. But an entire boot? The tail curling from the base of his spine tensed, the fur on it puffing outward to nearly three times it's size, and he curled his fingers into the sleeve of Karamatsu's parka, tugging him along behind him. The ears atop his head flattened against his crown, and he hunched further over than even his usual terrible posture.]
[Karamatsu flinched behind him, making a startled yelp of a sound, and Ichimatsu rolled his eyes, standing straighter to turn around and reprimand him, again. As he did so, something dripped, first on one of his cat ears and then onto his cheek as he shifted to flick his ear, and he squinted at Karamatsu in the darkness. He could see better than probably most, due likely to his bizarre catlike tendencies, and the dark droplet of fluid on Karamatsu's face that mirrored his own made his stomach twist. He brought one hand to his cheek to smear the drop on his own face as Karamatsu did the same, and inhaled sharply.]
--don't look up. [Blood. There was blood dripping on them from above, which either meant something was bleeding pretty fucking heavily above them, or something with teeth that had just eaten something was dripping the blood of its prey onto them. Now his tail was at least four times as big as it had started out, his ears pinned entirely flat to his head, and he tugged gently on Karamatsu's sleeve. The boot, the blood-- another droplet hit his other ear. Someone had been attacked, and they were probably standing directly under the scene.]

[He wasn't really expecting him to scream, though. His ears jolt straight upright and then flatten again and he launches forward, shoving a hand against Karamatsu's mouth to shut him up and dragging him forward and down, putting his face against his shoulder.]
Shut up, you fucking idiot, did you not consider that maybe whatever did that is still in here??

O—oh, a—ah, I se-see..
[ He's trying so so so hard to sound okay and maybe to even smile, but holy shit. His face is completely white. Thankfully, his voice is a lot quieter than it was. ]
I feel as if— I am going to lose my lunch, Ichimatsu.
[ you might wanna back the fuck up... ]
no subject
uuuggguhhhh cw for gross vomit now...
[ and that's what makes you fucking weird, Ichimatsu.
He crawls, pathetically, to his wobbling feet and placing his palm on the trunk of a tree to steady himself, leaning over and encouraging his stomach with his muscles. He grimaces, eyes pricking with tears once more as he lets his lunch spill freely from his lips, splattering across the atrium ground in several, lukewarm cup fulls. He's mindful to not allow any of it on his person, though a few specks end up on the tips of his shoes. When he pulls away he feels significantly better and does the smart thing of not looking up again, but when he looks at his palm that was against the trunk, it's covered in the victim's blood.
Yikes. Whatever attacked the unidentified victim left a huge mess.
He heaves out, throwing up just a little more until his stomach seems satisfied. His other hand, free of blood, places on his temple as he tries to think and not pass out, though he's getting tunnel vision and having a hard time hearing. He breathes quietly and remains still until he feels like he can speak again. ]
... W—We need to get out of here. Tell somebody about this.
[ his sentences aren't flourished with fancy verbiage because he's having trouble actually talking right away. ]
this thread is basically muppets: the grossening
And get you a shower, you reek. Can you walk?

[ Karamatsu says, stiffening his posture. It's so abnormally quiet in the atrium tonight, too. There's no chirping or buzzing of insects— it's spooky. And while Karamatsu has a hard time catching the feel of the atmosphere, he's really aware of it now that he's seen the incident above him.
Another trickle of blood lands in his hair, causing him to shudder. He wants to run, but he also doesn't want to leave Ichimatsu. ]
There are all sorts of passengers on this ship. I do not know who could have done something like this but..
Do you remember how I told you about the planet holocaust that I assisted escorting the natives to our ship to prevent their extinction? I wonder if.. some of the refugees have grown aggressive and restless here.
[ that means there is more than one.. ]
no subject
[It seems too easy, and he's pretty sure it's not going to be anything good inside of it, but he can't quell the curiosity to approach it. He glances up, and once they're out from under the body as far as he can tell, he lets go of Karamatsu and advances on the box. He pauses, and doesn't quite speak over his shoulder.]
...don't go condemning the refugees yet, and sure as hell don't say that to anyone else. You'll cause panic and animosity, and if they aren't already aggressive that will probably make them as much. Whatever's in this box probably isn't gonna be pretty, look away so you don't make yourself sick again.
[And he crouches to open it.]
no subject
He nods like he's really agreeing with Ichimatsu (he isn't) and then his nodding turns into slowly shaking his head once Ichimatsu brings up the box. No, no, NO nono. That's not a good idea. They shouldn't open it. Somebody else should. NOT THEM. That box that's been sitting there in the taunting light, that isn't for them. Again, not following direction, he takes in a short and harsh gasp, leaning down to grab Ichimatsu by the shoulder.
What if it's something dangerous? What if it's something that could hurt him? How, then, would he forgive himself? He would feel so guilty.
It's too late, though, the box is opened and Karamatsu squints before making a gurgling noise. ]
A.. a... a.. A HEART!!
[ holy shit he is NOT GOOD at keeping quiet, is he? ]
no subject
Shut up, idiot, didn't I already tell you to stop yelling?! Yes, it's a heart. Probably belonged to whoever's strung up in the trees. This was definitely intentional... [He looks over his shoulder at the darkened area of trees, still periodically dripping (he can hear it, now, and it sends a slight shiver down his spine, his tail puffing back outward again), and grimaces. He closes the box again and picks it up, carefully, ears atop his head swiveling madly in an attempt to hear any shifts in the Atrium around them. If it was a trap, moving the box would set off something, and he wasn't going to move with it until he was relatively certain doing so wouldn't be fucking endgame.]
no subject
He whirls around, eyes surveying the area, his breathing beginning to accelerate again. ]
A—ah, stealing an actual heart.. that seems.. rather cruel. Metaphorical hearts, yes, I am familiar with that, but.. this. I do not know if we should. I think we should contact s-somebody else.
no subject
...like who? A heart is gonna be a lot easier to use to identify whoever's strung up in the trees, and if they've got anyone here that's close to them they deserve to know. [He considers adding, "their family deserves to know,".]
no subject
So, Ichimatsu doesn't have to say it. Karamatsu knows. Whoever this person was, their family should know if their family made it aboard the ship. He's still pale by the time he reaches for his communicator and contacting someone. ]
no subject
[He continues to take small, careful steps away from where the heart was placed, listening for shifts around them and watching Karamatsu out of the corner of his eyes, wishing more with each passing second they have the heart that there was more light in the Atrium. He can only rely on sound to know if something or someone is coming, and he doesn't want to learn how he'd react to Karamatsu getting splayed across the trees like the body of the heart he holds between his hands.]
Who are you contacting?
no subject
It's an odd sensation. Karamatsu never had anyone else he could rely on other than his family. Chibita was close, but.. he'll leave the title alone this time. ]
Washington. He will know what to do.
I have faith in him.
[ painful... ]
no subject
All right. Don't tell anybody else, though, we don't know what, if anything, we're dealing with here.
no subject
We should get out of here, and.. bring that with you.
