0759 | eichi & the rink
Then again, having swept Eichi up along with him was a matter of the younger man knowing more about Victor's choreography for the unannounced programme he'd be showcasing for the first time this afternoon. Speaking of... he looks over to the lanky teenager, tossing his head to shift his bangs off his face. )
I'm thinking it'll be better to have the main lights dimmed over the spectators when Yuuri's on ice —
( Everything seems to slow down, a thrumming in the background cutting out with such suddenness he almost feels the difference in silence hit. But it's too fast; just as the lights cut out and only the light of his comm unit is left to light up his face when the gravity cuts out, leaving him feeling impossibly light, starting to float in that peculiarity. )
What the — Eichi, grab on to where you are!

One moment, he's watching Victor on the ice, taking in the feel of this type of "stage." Everything is different about it, but the familiar feeling of a crowd watching the star of the show still runs through Eichi's chest. He can imagine it, the interested faces, the clapping, the amazed sounds, and it thrills him. He wants to know more about this world, if only so he can draw from it himself, and use it to keep moving forward—
And then, everything dies. The lights, the gravity, and even the air seems to go still as he feels his weight being lifted. He can't tell if he's falling or flying, but shock crosses his face before he can manage to react.
It's Victor's words that cause him to snap out of it, and his hand stretches out to grab where he'd been standing, gripping at the wall or bar or whatever he can.]
Could this be a power outage? [At first, it's easy to stay strong. He's still feeling okay, things still have the chance to get better.]
no subject
Hah, maybe they took the rink off the powergrid. I've been wondering if they could do that.
( he says, conversational. it's entirely possible to have single environment controls; he taps carefully at his comm, keeping himself steady in space. the network connection shows as offline. it's the first worry he finds himself facing, more than the sudden lack of up and down, or the presence of light, of audible air. )
We should get out front, see if this is affecting more than just the rink. Have you moved in no gravity before?
no subject
This must be what flying feels like, a bit, you know? It's exhilarating. I'm actually grateful for the chance.

( he hooks one foot under the seats, reaching out to take hold of Eichi's arm and gently tug him down. )
Or a certain kind of chaotic floating, yes.
no subject
[But he's tugged down, and his grip shifts automatically to Victor's arm. A little too tightly, in fact.] But if we're going to be checking the rest of the ship, I'd appreciate your help moving quickly. I can feel how still the air is.
no subject
( he gives Eichi a Look. )
Have you wanted to try?
( that should be low impact, what kind of nonsense is he not even allowed to partake in heart strength building exercises? he is baffled! (and still not a medical professional, Victor, please.) )
Still air. All the better for thinking with.
( he doesn't make to adjust Eichi's grip on his arm. he casts him a glance, and a small smile; his eyes remain serious, hard as it is to tell in the light of his comm. )
Perhaps a little too good for it. As the one training in working with zero gravity environments, why not take the opportunity to practice moving two bodies around? I appreciate the challenge.
( he doesn't try gathering up the things that have started to drift; he turns them both gently and makes a small, controlled push off to send them moving toward the doors. )
Keep your limbs in close.

[Of course he's wanted to try. He wants to try everything, to be normal and gather inspiration from all sources. But now isn't even the time to daydream about that. Victor is looking at him, and Eichi can practically feel the worry. Or perhaps he's just worried about receiving worry.
He's a burden and he doesn't want to me. Victor is being kept back from getting to Yuuri because he's here—]
As much as I— [Ah, but before he can get his words out, they're already moving. Victor tells him to keep his limbs close, and his eyes go wide as he clutches his free hand to his own chest. He wants to flail his legs, but he listens and keeps them frozen still.]
I-isn't moving with two bodies actually more difficult? If possible, I don't want to get in the way, so...

( He catches himself on the corner of the front counter, tugging Eichi up, bringing him in close. Victor shifts to the side, catching one heel under another portion of the countertop. He pulls Eichi close, free hand coming up to gently bop him on the nose.
Victor tips his chin up, watching him through half closed eyes. )
No gravity means no resistance. Stay close and hold on. Oh, maybe even piggyback? Whatever's most comfortable with you.
( And he smiles, eyes opening wider as he moves his head to look in the direction they'll be moving. )
We'll move forward together. You keep a light on this for me, actually — with your wrist comm, pointing forward where we're going. You'll do that, won't you?
I can't believe Victor is like this, also I saved that tag forever
Again, he's an inconvenience, but looking in his eyes for this moment, it doesn't quite feel like it. It's similar in that way, and so he slides his gaze away.]
I'm a little old for piggyback rides, I think, so why don't we stay like this? [Piggyback rides would destroy his pride, he can't have that. So, carefully, he shifts to point his wrist light forward, shakily. His other hand holds on tight to Victor.]
Like this?
the time Victor tried to use pseudo-seduction-challenges to Motivate Eichi
He probably should. He still doesn't. )
Like this. We'll stop and re-evaluate once we're out through the front doors.
( He waits a beat for any sense of confirmation before he takes off again, adjusting for what difference he feels as they move forward toward the door like careful kangaroos. )
v i c t o r
Right. [Go ahead. Once they do move forward, the motion is still enough to make his stomach flip all over the place. They land every time just fine, so he's gradually relaxing more and giving in to the excitement of it, but it's still a fine line as the cold of the room starts to set in.
It sets in for someone like himself too quickly. At least Victor is very warm.]
I wonder how Yuuri must be faring... [He tries to keep his wrist steady, but he still trembles with it. It's fairly consistent, despite that.] That must be where you're headed immediately, isn't it?
did it work tho
Yuuri and Makkachin are both back in my room.
( not "ours," because he's not going to force Yuuri to make that choice until he's ready. regardless, he's an honest man. most the time. )
Now is not the time for him to be left on his own. Imagine waking up to this?
( he clucks his tongue, pausing to listen to the world out there in the darkness in front of them. )
like, a little bit,
But if he has Makkachin, then he's not completely alone, at least.
[Just like how he's not completely alone right now, but he's still completely starting to freak out. Victor is close, and his grip tightens, but even his tightest grip isn't very much. His heart beats faster than it should, he thinks of all of his friends who he's left back home, the life and his dreams...
He doesn't want to die like this. He lets out his own quiet and shaky breath, peering out into the hallway as he points with his light.]
It seems like it really is the entire ship, doesn't it? [He's not being calmed by this fact.]
then we good
No. None of us are completely alone.
( it's as close as he gets in general reassurance; he's not so good at it most the time, not with words. physical actions are simply easier for him.
which is why he looks forward now. )
It does. Which means the crew is working on this even now. I'm glad; if nothing else, they're effective at their work.
( and it is in that pause, before moving further, that he holds them now; now, before they join the greater darkness and the threats they cannot see beyond the trembling light held in Eichi's hand. )
no subject
He has to bring the hand holding their shaky light back to his face, clapping over his mouth as his head dips a bit.
It seems like even though he's not alone, he's weak. Even trying to keep his cool, he's starting to panic, it's getting harder to breath, he's just an extra weight on Victor and there's no one here who really knows him. He doesn't want to die.]
