a.) this is what she normally acts like, though (gula);
[ There's absolutely no way that Owari wouldn't stop by Gula, especially when her nose picked up on that savory aroma. The scent alone was all she needed to decide that this was a place worth her time, because there was no doubt about it: this place had food, and there was nothing more appealing to Akane Owari than food. This was her first time having access to this many restaurants, and the thought of all the food she could possibly eat was too much for her to resist.
She could eat to her heart's content...!
...Which is precisely what she's doing. Anyone who enters one of the restaurants can find her sitting a table, scarfing down food at an alarming rate, a stack of a few empty dishes at her side. The plate of food she's currently working on doesn't last long as she quickly finishes it and discards it with the others, turning her attention to whoever's serving her with a wild look in her eyes. ]
Hey, you! Gimme some more!
[ Like she really needs any more?! ]
b.) a district after her own heart (ira);
[ What better place to battle strong people than here in Ira? A district where you could participate in arena fights had to have a lot of tough people to fight, right? It seemed as though strength wasn't confined to only the arena; the back alleys seemed to have their own share of strong people, too..if the brawl Owari was currently involved in wasn't evidence of that.
Not only is she taking on two opponents instead of one, but also they happen to be burly men much taller than she is. Owari doesn't seem bothered by this, however; in fact, she seems to be thrilled by this fact. She wouldn't get any stronger if she fought people with the same or a lower power level as her, so she's perfectly content to take on these opponents that seem out of her league. She's roughed up quite a bit, but her injuries don't deter her from fighting; if anything, it only motivates her further, and anyone passing by the alley can hear her yell: ]
Is that all you've got?! What a waste of time. Alright, then it's my turn...!
[ Go and investigate? ]

a
Eventually, his hand was forced by an emergency situation: Nekomaru heard that someone matching Owari's description was seen entering Gula. He immediately knows that she will be doomed if she has to rely on herself in that place, no matter how much stronger she's gotten. And he feels that he's the only one who can handle this monstrous task...
And so, he begins his own quest through Gula. He feels the hunger starting to gnaw at him too, and he procures a few health snack that he chews on as he proceeds with his search. From restaurant to restaurant, he searches tirelessly until he finally finds the right one. Nidai stands in the doorway for a moment, almost transfixed as he sees her again for the first time. To think he thought that he had seen the last of her back on the beach of Jabberwork...
Now here she is, stuffing her face as usual. He finds himself feeling oddly sentimental as he watches her eat.
And then, as she makes her order, Nidai scowls, points and shouts out to the server.]
Like hell you are! Haven't you had enough yet, you fool?!
this is gross and i'm upset
A part of her is...scared to look over, nervous as to whom she'll see standing before her, but there's no mistaking it. She can't ever mistake that voice, and it isn't just because of how often he would chide her. Just like the time she recognized his voice before Souda introduced Minimaru, she recognizes it now:]
O-Old man...?
[ Try as she might, she can't keep the incredulity out of her voice. Sure, she knows that this place is capable of bringing back the dead - after all, Komaeda and Nanami were here - but never did she think that someone she cared about would be here. Never did she think she would be so fortunate to see Nidai again, to have a second chance at repaying him for protecting her; she had almost lost him when he had intervened in her duel against Monokuma, and she did lose him when he had finally come back to her. She wouldn't have been surprised if she didn't get another opportunity after screwing up the first two times.
Although...this time, he's different than she last remembered him to be. Looking at him now, he appears the way he normally did before...that incident. However, seeing him like this doesn't make her feel any better; it only makes the guilt resurface, because...because he would've still looked that way, had she not been so foolish. Even though he had said it was better to still be alive than what he looked like, how could he really not mind what she had caused him...?
Could she really face him right now? Was she a person worthy of facing him? Even now, he's here to get her out of trouble, right? Then, had she even changed at all...?
Maybe she has, because she says something that she never would have said before those events occurred: ]
Old man, I'm sorry...!
i will embrace this grossness
And in that moment, he actually feels lousy for his sacrifice. Because he can see what he left behind.
But he also can see, just in that, how much she must have grown since that time.
His intensity diminishes in the face of that apology, and he lowers his arms as he looks her right in the eyes. He really does feel old right now, and he softly murmurs her name.]
Owari...
[Then he shakes his head.]
You don't owe me any apologies. All that you owe is to yourself! ...And it looks like you've already started to pay that off.
good!! bc this is just the beginning
S-Stupid...
[ It's a halfhearted insult, and honestly, she's not really directing it towards him than she is just saying it. ]
How can you say that? It's 'cause of me, you...
[ She doesn't continue the sentence, because they both know what she's referring to; there's no need to bring it back up. One thing she doesn't know is where he stands in regards to time. From his appearance, she can only assume it was back then...but with the knowledge that the island was a simulation, there was a chance that despite his normal appearance, he still contained the memories from that point on.
She supposes she'll figure that out later. What's important now is that she makes amends for her actions. ]

[Hinata had give him the impression that it wasn't quite the end for him... but either way, that doesn't change the choice he made and that he had put his life on the line for Owari. He's had a lot of time up here in space to make peace with his decision and his most likely fate, so he regards it casually as he faces Owari with his arms crossed.]
Hahaha! Now that's not your fault at all! Monokuma's the one who shot me. And I'm the one who made the choice to offer my body as a shield! Whatever happened to me is my own damn fault!

[ She hadn't expected him to be so...blunt about it, but then again, she expected as much. He was never the type to hold back on anything - especially his words. And it isn't like he's wrong; he did end up dying, it just wasn't at that exact moment. However, from his words, she now has a better understanding of where he is in regards to memories. So he's from that point in time, huh... ]
...Not exactly. It was faint, but your heart was still beatin'. That bear wanted to leave you for dead since you ended up takin' the blow for me, but we all begged him to save you since you had nothin' to do with it. I was the one who tried to fight him. [ Before, she never would have claimed responsibility for her actions, but now she'll hold herself accountable. That moment was a wake-up call that her actions could indirectly affect the others around her, and Saionji had even made sure to drill that point in her head. ] He managed to save you, but...you didn't look like how you do now. And that was my fault.
[ Even if he doesn't hold it against her, she does, and she can't understand why he doesn't blame her. Sure, what he's saying is logically correct, but if she hadn't provoked Monokuma in the first place, he wouldn't have had to step in as a shield for her. ]
...Old man. W-Why...Why did you save me back then?

There's no sweat today. He stands tall with a steadfast honesty as he stares Owari down and listens to her account. Even if he did come back, the way she's speaking, it still sounds like he died anyway... But he doesn't care for the details. It's not relevant to his life here, and he's already accepted his fate.
Even if he looks rigid and firm as he frowns in thought, a subtle softness starts to seep into his features as he addresses her.]
Isn't it obvious? A team manager has to be ready to lay everything on the line for their teammates! Even their own lives...
[He lets that thought hang there for a moment, but he can't let it end there. Nidai feels like he has more to say, and he elaborates, drawing slightly closer to her as he does.]
You know what I see when I look at you, Owari? An idiot. ...An idiot who shines with so much potential. It would be a crime to let that light be extinguished. So if I could give up my own humble existence to help that light to survive and grow and shine even brighter... to help you reach that full potential...
[A warm smile crawls onto his face, as tears stream down his cheeks.]
That's worth anything.

[ That remark is all she can make before she feels her own eyes sting with tears. She quickly turns away from him before they can actually fall down her face and wipes at her eyes with her arm. This isn't the first time that she's cried - especially because of him - but she still can't help but feel embarrassed doing so. It's okay, though, if she shows a little emotion every now and then, right? If she shows those weaknesses that she had been so adamant about suppressing? Because...Hinata had told her that she wasn't any less strong if she did, and spending time with Nidai taught her the same thing.
It doesn't stop her from feeling any less embarrassed about it, but she at least wouldn't keep restraining the way she truly felt...and right now, a part of her feels happy that he thinks of her so highly. Owari knows that she's not as bright as some of her other classmates and that she has a bad temper for days...the list of cons could go on and on, really, but for someone--no, for Nidai to see so much potential in her that he's willing to exchange his life for hers, she doesn't know what to say to that.
Owari sniffs, rubbing at her eyes again, and giving him a weak smile. Despite that, it's still genuine, and it conveys some of her gratitude as well. ]
No, I think...you're the one who's the idiot, old man.
[ No, she's just jesting; this has gotten too sentimental already, so she has to lighten the mood. ]
no subject
But maybe he can also read that there's too much sentimentality in the air. And so, with tears still staining his face, he breaks into a loud and boisterous laugh.]
Hahahaha! Are you really crying about someone like me?! Hoe embarrassing!
no subject
[ Her words lack bite, however, and sound more like a huff than anything. Speaking with him again like this made her realize how much she truly missed him, which is weird for her, given her upbringing. She had never really gotten attached to anyone before, because death was so frequent in the area she grew up in that she saw no point in getting close to anyone...but somehow, she found herself extremely close to Nidai - something that only hit her the moment she almost and actually lost him.
She wipes at her eyes again and mutters under her breath: ]
...But thanks. For sayin' that.
no subject
Hoe embarrassing that typo was...Nekomaru already knew how much he missed her. Hearing the stupid things she says, taking on her dumb challenges, talking to her idiotic self... He chuckles once more as he reaches a hand up to flick a tear away.]
Ha! You got me there.
[As much as he's tried to focus on Owari this whole time, there still is a hunger building up within him. He reaches quickly into a complimentary bowl of tortilla chips on the table right beside them and stuffs them into his face without taking his eyes away from Owari.]
No need to thank me. It's all stuff that needed to be said. Hopefully some of it sticks in that thick head of yours...
no subject
[ ...Never mind the fact that she was formerly defending that having an empty head gave you the opportunity to stuff them full of dreams. Now that their tearful reunion is finished however, she's quickly reminded of what she was doing prior to Nidai coming here. She waves over a new waiter, as the previous one apparently scattered off after being scared out of their wits by Nidai's loud entrance. As she waits, she asks: ]
So why are you here, anyway? Didja come to have lunch, too? The food here's really good.
a-mazing
[ This is certainly a surprise that she sees a familiar face -- one that she thought that she would have never seen again due to the circumstances. And to think that she would see her like this, though. ]
nooo even in the headers i can't escape the puns?!
[ Since Komaeda mentioned she was here, and she then accidentally outed her as the traitor... ]
Wanna eat? The food here's super yummy!
don't lose your head(er) over it, nena
[ Nanami blinks at Owari owlishly, canting her head to the side. ]
... It's okay. I'm not that hungry, anyway. [ She's fairly certain. ] Do you mind if I sit, though?
wow you're re-len-tless with these puns
[ ...As if "that guy" is being specific. At both her refusal to the food and her question, she shrugs. ]
Sure, go ahead.
i guess this is your pun-ishment
[ It's clear that Nanami needs more than just that, because she knows there are at least three other guys around, now. ]
It's been a while, hasn't it? Have you been doing well, Owari-san? [ She thinks Owari has, considering that she's eating so heartily. ]
i guess i punderstand
[ Owari, that's rude... ]
But yeah, I've been doin' alright. I wasn't expectin' to come here straight outta the program, but this place's pretty sweet. [ After all, it has good food and suitable living conditions, so it's good in Owari's book. ] What about you? I haven't seen you since...y'know, what happened back on the island.
don't punderestimate me ever again, nena
[ It takes her a while before she finally manages to process it. Oh. ]
You mean Komaeda-kun... mm, I've been fine. Nanami-san is here, along with Hinata-kun and Nidai-kun.
you have taught me a punforgettable lesson, len
[ That's what she said, Nanami!! She nods at the names, though, but there's something that catches her attention: ]
...Huh? "Nanami-san"? But you're right there.
isn't it punderful?
[ The way she says it is almost like an afterthought instead of something that she should have explained when she said it to begin with. ]
I forgot to mention it. But there's another Nanami-san that looks exactly like me. . . but she's not me, 'cause she's different. [ There's a pause, her throat dry as she tries to get the proper words out. It's difficult, but not impossible. It just hurts when she admits it. ] She's human, I think.
you win, i'm all punned out
[ From the tone of her voice, it's evident that she doesn't fully understand what's going on, but she has a general idea. ]
So...were you fashioned after the other Nanami or something?
