WHERE: 2nd residential floor lounge
WHEN: OOCly 12/31; today.
WHAT: Victor's ICly claimed the day as being the 31st, and subsequently celebrating the "New Year" with anyone who comes by! After sending out a post on the network inviting any of the new arrivals via anomalies to attend, people are welcome to come enjoy a probably very random seeming New Years celebration.
WARNINGS: There is food and alcohol here, beware!

The lounges are interesting spaces, and Victor didn't hesitate to roll up his sleeves and rearrange furniture in this section of the middle floor lounge. A cheery wave to anyone wandering through earlier on the 31st (by his calendar, he's quite cheerful in acknowledging how arbitrary that really is) while he goes about arranging things to his satisfaction, before he jets off again to finish preparing his olivie salad.

It's nowhere near fancy, but he's shown up again with a big, borrowed bowl from his work, containing the closest approximation of olivie salad he'd been able to manage working with the supplies he found on board. There's a tablecloth tossed over the table he's appropriated for holding the foodstuffs, along with simple plates, utensils, cups and bubbling wines (three, okay, that's toeing the line of careful financial management). He's even figured out how to get music playing, though it's hard to say if there's any unifying theme to what plays.

Perhaps the most ridiculous part of any of this is how he's constructed a small cone cap for the brown, fuzzy creature that had been delivered to his bunk last week. That it's a shaved ice cone inverted with the words "Happy New Year" written on it amuses him. The unidentified creature simply coos and purrs and wears the cone hat, not moving off the smaller table it's been set on.

"Happy New Year!" he says to just about anyone walking by, tipping his (oh so classy) cup their way with a smile. Welcome to the party. Bring something to contribute to the table? Very welcome to the party!

[Oh well. Maybe it's not someone he can proposition for a kiss, but no use in not striking up a conversation, right? Who knows, he might be a good connection or maybe a friend or something. Someone to hang out with. Considering all his friends except Ax are back home, there's no problem with reaching out.

Marco laughs when the guy asks 'yes?' in that confused, slightly self-conscious way that reminds him a bit of Tobias in his human morph, and then assumes there's confetti in his hair.]

I mean, I was gonna say Happy New Year, but you do, actually. Mind if I get it?

Oh. [The easy answer makes Yuuri relax enough to smile back.] Happy New Year, then.

[Yuuri sighs, brushing at his hair a little bashfully, then seemingly gives up when the confetti stays put. He looks at Marco sheepishly.] I don't mind, if it isn't a bother for you.

[The kid's awkward, that's for sure, and the resemblance to Tobias only grows. It's like he radiates that whole 'not quite comfortable with myself' feeling that Marco's very rarely feels, himself.

Grinning easily, he steps forward and lifts his hands to brush bits of bright sparkly pink confetti out of fine black hair. Shakes his head a little.]

Nah. No problem. Sorry to say, you'll probably be finding glitter in weird places for a few weeks now. And Happy New Year! You from Earth?

[Instead of looking put off by the threat of glitter, Yuuri just shakes his head, eyes laughing.] It wouldn't be the first time. [Some of their figure skating costumes can be quite sparkly, after all.]

Thanks for the help. And...yeah. You're from Earth, too?

[Marco's brow raises at that a little, and he laughs softly.]

Really? You don't strike me as a glitter kind of guy...

[Shrugging, Marco nods.]

Yeah. Weird, asking if someone comes from Earth instead of, you know, what town or country you come from, right?

Not usually. [The smile lingers, especially now that Marco's helped him clear the confetti out of his hair.]

I'm a figure skater. A lot of our outfits have rhinestones and glitter to draw attention when we're out on the ice. [He chuckles.] I think some of the competitors use hairspray and gels with glitter in them, too.

Seriously?

[Marco blinks at him, head tilting a bit. Now that he's thinking about it, the guy kinda looks like an athlete, the sort of narrow, graceful kind that Rachel was. Gymnastics, figure skating - pretty similar in a few ways, especially the build.]

Huh. That's kinda cool. I can't even normal-skate.

[yokunaru]

You could always learn.

[Now that they're on one of his favorite topics, Yuuri's much more relaxed than before.]

Viktor said he's submitted the paperwork to open a rink on board. It shouldn't take too long to finish.
