WHAT: Alpha and Beta teams begin their mission.
WARNINGS: TBD

Catch-all mingle log while Alpha and Beta travel together. Toss up a header for a specific day or event to keep things better organized and then everyone can tag around in that.

(Once we figure out when the sandstorm and fall into the gorge happens to split everyone up, we can add that too to close out the big group log.)

There's no point to telling us what it is we are getting. We're the soldiers they can use with out loss of their own. [Pessimism runs between the two of them. It's what binds them together as friends, huh. Though right now the mission did feel a bit lacking in information and reason.]

I hate mines. [He said simply. He was willing to bet he gets mine sweeper duties as well. He wants to find at least one so he can scan it and check it out, to locate them easier.]

[He looked over to Cassian though, at the comment about sleeping. He knows the other has problems. Nightmares. He knows he's not the best for comfort. Not like the others could be, but... in a softer tone.] It may not be much, but I will be around, Cassian. I have your back.

[ Cassian nods, lips pressed into a thin line and looking up at Kay. ] We volunteered, in the end. [ Thus the blame for going in underprepared can be shifted, somewhat, but that doesn't mean Cassian has to like the hand they've been dealt. ]

It's a lot more than you might think, knowing you're here. That you have my back. [ He stops himself from touching the necklace beneath his shirt, but he thinks about it. ] I did promise not to be a hero.

You volunteered. I followed. [He said down to the other, not even apologetic about it. Cassian and Jyn signed up, and so he had to as well. It was the luck of the draw that they utilized him.] But generally we are given more to work with. Or at last a better reason.

[He reached out to place a metal hand on the mans shoulder. Lifted it a half an inch, dropped it again, lifted, and dropped, patting him twice. He'd seen other organics do it and adopted it. There, there. It will be all right.] It is a good promise. Which ever of the two made you make it, I can agree with them. Even if it was Jyn. Don't be a hero. I am easier to repair than you are.

[ Cassian gives Kay one of his small, uncertain smiles that indicate the other has done something Cassian finds hilarious but he doesn't trust the environment as one safe for laughter. ]

Well, you'll have my word too then. No heroics.

[That smile is at least a good one. he approves.]

[He's staring at the man, for just a moment longer than needed. As if trying to assess how accurate his comment is. If there is truth there. He then gives a single nod of his head. Sealing that 'word' to memory.]

Good. You are on the Beta team. You have to make it out with the relic or the person with the relic. I will not leave until you make it out. [or, leave planet, really. If Cassian dies there he will sit and stay there to rust.]
