[ There's a voice outside his door, and then a knock, and it's not Kay by the tone of voice or the knocking sequence so Cassian is awake with a start, sitting up and prying himself from Jyn's seemingly multi-limbed embrace to step into his boots and crossing the room until he's opening the door.

To three men, only one of whom he knows, so he steps into the hallway and lets the door shut behind him, leans on it a bit. ]

Hello.

[ To the tone of What the fuck is this, Victor?. ]

I am sorry for his lack of bedside manner...

[On his way to the shuttles, he grabs Jim and asks him to fly. Then on arrival, manages to even convince him to come along and help if needed. If nothing else, Jim was good with people. Maybe he can get the stubborn other captain to be somewhat sensible.

Or it could go the other way. If it does, he will make sure Jim feels his irritation.]

Sure. S'what I do.

[He waves off the thanks as he curls one hand around the strap of his med kit and waits outside the door. A brow raises at the man as he emerges and settles into an at rest stance shoulder to shoulder with Jim.]

Take it you didn't tell him I was coming. Probably a smart move. [His eyes flick back to the other man and he nods.] Dr. Leonard McCoy. Hear you been using your head as a punching bag and not mindin' the injuries after. Call it a house call.

[ To be fair, it wouldn't take much convincing to get Jim to tag along. He has so much free time here when compared to before, that a good portion of his day he doesn't even know what to do with himself. It may even be driving him a little crazy. So while medicine isn't exactly a passion of his, he's more than glad for the chance to help out and busy himself with something (hopefully) worthwhile.

This may mean he's currently Bones's impromptu nurse, although considering his limited knowledge, Bones probably wouldn't use the title in any official capacity. But anyway.

He looks up to the man stepping out of the room, an eyebrow raising slightly at Bones's choice of words. Ah yes, ever the people person. That sure is how he'll get the guy to cooperate. ]

Victor was worried, and B— Dr. McCoy here is the very best at what he does. [ Offering a brief and tentative smile. ] Won't hurt to let him take a look, at least.

[ Okay it might hurt a little bit. Hyposprays are not a pleasant experience. Cassian doesn't need to know that. ]

( Victor speaks after both "strangers" have, giving Cassian a bit of a curious look, unphased by the implied what the hell is this. He's glancing between Cassian and his door, arching an eyebrow and canting his head to the side. )

Company?

( He asks offhand; honestly, he hopes the answer is yes, though he doesn't press for it, moving on to explain. )

Leonard and Jim are both relatively recent arrivals through the anomalies. What was it, early January?

( so conversational, but that's the point in this interlude. )

Yuuri's spoken so highly of Leonard, he came to mind when I was feeling concerned about you. ( with a casual tip of his head back to Jim: ) Leonard's skills speak for themselves. Jim here's a captain.

( only Victor would be networking people on a housecall concussion check in, looking affable, eyes serious. )

[ Cassian watches each man speak in turn, finally arching an eyebrow at Victor. ]

Jyn moved back in. [ The way he says it makes it sound less like company and more like 'gravity is a law of physics' but. It doesn't exactly disprove what Victor is saying either. ]

Re-L told me about you, [ This is to the good Doctor. ] And I'd rather not do this in the hallway, if no one minds.

[ So, back inside then. ]

Victor brought a doctor. [ Is announced to the room as a whole, and Jyn who is in it (and probably up by now). ]

[ surprise jyn is here to ruin your manly bonding with her girlish ways! she's yanking a shirt on over her pants when cassian comes back inside and raises her eyebrows. ]

Did he? Victor's a braver man than I am. [ not in part because she is... not a man, but it's a good expression nonetheless. it's also not hard for her to spot the doctor and the stranger because, like victor, they both tower over her and it's that more than there suddenly being too many people in their tiny room that makes her nose scrunch up and her arms cross over her chest.

[Leonard scowls. You'd think doctors came with the plague the way these people kept reactin to 'em. The hell happened with doctors to make them all so goddamn flighty?

Either way, he follows them all in and waits only a moment for them to quit with the introductions. He's honestly about to just start doing the check up without permission when he notices the lady in the room. It makes him stop and nod his head with all the manners his southern upbringing has given him.]

Beg your pardon, ma'am. Sorry to intrude. Promise I'll make this quick and as painless as possible. Don't mean to be rude and crowd you out of your space.

[He offers her a small smile before looking back at Cassian with a more expressionless face.] Mind if we get this done so we don't make your lady friend too uncomfortable?

[ They're not that tall. Maybe it's Jyn who's just that tiny. Not that Jim would ever say that out loud because he doesn't feel like risking getting punched wherever she'd reach. (It would likely not be his face.) ]

Sorry. [ He lets Bones's apology count for the both of them, only offering that word with an apologetic smile aimed her way. ] This is Dr. McCoy. I'm Jim Kirk— [ A pause as he glances at Bones. ] Provisional nurse.

[ And before Cassian even answers Bones's question, he's already setting down the medkit he's carrying, opening it and getting the tools he knows Bones will need to check for any injuries. Better to just get this over with, buddy. ]

Ah. Good.

( Victor follows inside, though he tucks himself out of the way and waves to Jyn, smiling. )

Nice to see you again, Jyn.

( still not the time to ask about self defense, but he's... quite glad she's moved back in with Cassian. he feels like it's better for them both. he does laugh at the quip about his apparent bravery: ah, what wit everyone has around here. )

Just remembered a few wise words about what experience might not teach us.

( he has apparently decided to leave Cassian to the mercies of two other space men, while, you know, deciding to converse with Jyn. as one does. )
