WHO: Chiaki Nanami, Chiaki Nanami (AI) and you, the poor unfortunate soul.
WHERE: Various places aboard the ISC Eluvio.
WHEN: Feb 8th
WHAT: Two Nanamis walk into a bar-- actually, it’s just two girls with the same name arriving on the Eluvio. Shenanigans happen. Or something.
WARNINGS: Spoilers for both Super Dangan Ronpa 2 and Dangan Ronpa 3 might occur! [ In reality, this should not be happening. This was decisively not the Neo World Program where she came from, nor was this Jabberwock… or even the Future Foundation headquarters. Not that she knew what those would be like, but she couldn’t just simply assume things based off what little information she knew. The uniformed people that had assisted her upon awakening reminded her of the outfits you’d see in the Tron games. However, before she can ask questions or even think, she’s ushered into what seems to be “Orientation” with some other people, most of who she doesn’t recognize until she sees a familiar face.

Her own face.

Allowing a yawn to escape her lips along with rubbing the corner of her eye to make sure that she isn’t dreaming before taking a seat and piping up, awkwardly, yet quietly: ]

… Is this supposed to be the part where I’m supposed to say “you’re not me” and you turn into a monster?

[ Starting with the references already, are we? ]

► save file two: CHOOSE YOUR DIFFICULTY SETTING...

[ Congratulations, Eluvio, for today, you get two for the price of one! That’s right, for the cost of absolutely free, you’ll have two new arrivals standing side by side; looking almost exactly the same with the exception of their outfits which are the main difference here. But other than that, they look and sound practically alike that it’s kind of scary. ]

➣ option a: hallways

[ Once the two of them have gone through the process of getting acquainted with the orientation video - and each other - the girls will find themselves wandering the halls of the ship. Video games aside, it’s a little different than what either of them are used to, but both of them seem to be handling it rather well under the circumstances.

...at least until they run into someone in the hallway, and realize that they have to introduce themselves with the same name. That’s a bit of a problem.

So, after that initial confusion, you - the lucky (?) passerby - will get to help them figure out what to call each other when they’re side by side. ~~Please enter name.~~ ]

… Excuse me. [ Almost eerily quiet, the Nanami Chiaki who isn’t wearing the Hope’s Peak Academy uniform seems to pipe up, tilting her head to the side. ] I have a question for you, probably. If you had two people named Nanami Chiaki and Nanami Chiaki and would have to give them alternate names, what would you call them? It would have to be something like Pit or Dark Pit… or maybe Kasumi and Kasumi Alpha, I think. Oh, and since you would be on the character naming screen, it has to be a name with ten or less characters… I think.

[ That’s when she decides to look at her counterpart for any help, because talking, even this much is a bit difficult. ]

Mm… Naming people in real life is probably a little different than naming them on a character naming screen. [ The Nanami in HPA uniform casts a fond look at her other self. ] But I think ten characters or less is a good place to start.

[ She pauses for a moment before tilting her head to the side and continuing. ] If it were a name that’s not too different from our original one, but is still enough to tell us apart, that would be ideal. You can think of us as… palette swaps, I guess, but we’re not quite the same person. So please keep that in mind when picking out names for us.

➣ option b: shopping center

[ While finding out where they’re going to be staying during their stay is definitely of major importance, the second best thing is to head to the shopping center for probably one of the most vital things in their lives: video games. Hence why you might run into this conversation: ]

Do you think there’s an arcade here? Like the ones you’d see in Yakuza or Shenmue.

[ Nanami’s usually sleepy eyes are a little wider than normal, taking in the sight of so many things at once - but she pulls her attention back to her companion promptly. ] Hmm… In a place this big, it seems like there should be something like that around. It’s definitely worth looking around to see if we can find one, though. [ Her eyes shut with a giggle. ] Between the two of us, we’d probably be able to gather a lot of prizes.

… I’d think so, too. [ There’s a beat, almost a rather thoughtful pause. ] We might empty out the crane machines, probably. Do you think if that happens we can have some sort of giveaway? Or maybe a game competition with some of the prizes as a prize… I wonder if that would be redundant, however.

In that case… [ Coming to a stop, she lays a hand on the other girl’s blue cardigan. ] Maybe it would be best to ask someone? If we’re going to have a giveaway, we might as well get people’s opinions first, right? We can do it like a poll of sorts and see what people like best. [ And with that, Nanami will try to get the attention of the nearest passerby. ] Excuse me, [ it’ll make her pause for just a moment, realizing that she almost identically echoed her other self’s quiet tone from earlier, but then Nanami pushes through the strange feeling. ] If you had a lot of prizes that you had won from a game machine, how would you distribute them to people?

[ She puts a hand out, as if making an attempt to correct him. While Nanami seems to know exactly who this is, she doesn't even seem to bother with his shock at all, if anything. At least, not initially. ]

You're supposed to say it like this: "two?!" [ She attempts the surprised gasp and emotion, but it seems to fall a little flat as she looks at her counterpart. ] Like in that one scene, where that guy has to face his friend who suddenly makes two weapons appear in his hand instead of one. You remember that game, right...?

[ But enough about those game references for the time being. This is more important. ]

I guess you could say that there are two of us, though. Although we're kind of different, probably. Is it really that surprising, Nidai-kun?

I do remember that game. It's a good one...

[Oh, wait. No, Nanami, focus.]

Sorry for the confusion... Both of us are still sort of figuring things out for ourselves, too. We're not completely different from each other, but we're not the same person either. It's certainly a little strange, but don't think about it too hard. For now, you can just think of the two of us as your classmates. [That's the most important part, anyway. That and being his friend.] It's good to see you, though, Nidai-kun. I'm glad you're here with us.

[As she puts her hand out, he does indeed stop in place and tries to listen to their explanations.]

It's a little surprising! It's not every day that you meet two of the same person. [But he calms down with a huff of air.]

I'm still not sure that I understand this situation. But hey... it's good to see any number of you, Nanami! [His line of sight keeps switching between the two of them as he speaks, and his demeanor eases into something more light-hearted.] I haven't seen anyone I recognize in months now. Did you two just get here? Are you alright?!

... I don't really get it, either.

[ She actually has her ideas, but right now they're things that she isn't exactly certain if she should say it right now, in front of the other Nanami. ] We did just get here, but we're okay, I think. Or at least, I'm okay.

[Nanami hums her agreement and nods.] Mhmm, I am too. Both of us are okay. A little bit confused, maybe, but we can probably figure things out as we go.

It's odd, though, that we're the only ones here and not the rest of the class... I wonder if there's some reason for it. [She shakes her head. They can likely figure that part out later.] I'm sorry you were the only one of us here for so long, Nidai-kun... But I'm glad we're together here now.

[Nekomaru gives a laugh as he hears that they're okay.]

Alright! I'm glad that you... that you two are alright, Nanami! [With that, he reaches out to ruffle one (1) Nanami hair with each hand.]

It is odd, isn't it?! I haven't seen anyone else from our class since we got here! Heh... I really missed you!

[ Nanami is definitely surprised by the ruffling, since she isn't exactly used to physical contact and it actually startles her a little bit out of her skin. It's not like dealing with cows at all and she doesn't know how to react and whether her reaction would be optimal for the situation, considering that there's just a tremendous amount of ways that this could go...

Nevertheless, she can't help but smile. ]

We missed you too, Nidai-kun. [ Or at the very least, she did. It's been so long since she's seen him as himself and not as a robotic version of himself thanks to Monokuma. ] What did you do while you were here, though?

[Nanami blushes, embarrassed at the contact. It's still not something she's quiet used to either, albeit for different reasons, but she still smiles regardless.]

It hasn't been as long for me, but I'm grateful you and Nanami-san are here. Waking up in the pod alone was a little scary.

[She'll pause for a minute and give him time to respond to the other Nanami, though.]

[Somehow the hair ruffling felt like a natural reaction to the combination of the Nanamis' fluffy heads and how much he missed his classmates. At least he pulls back quickly and resumes towering over the tiny gamers.]

I'm sorry that you were frightened... It's an unsettling experience to be sure. As for my actions? I've been getting to know the other people trapped here and doing what I can to help out. [He'll just not directly mention the rescue operation he was involved in... best not to lead off telling them about a planet's destruction.]

I haven't found many answers yet, but I'm still trying my best!!

It's not every day you wake up in a pod, after all.

[ Not that Nanami herself was scared by it; in fact, it's still less scary than many of the things that happened on the island. Not that this other Nanami knows that. ]

But... mm, that's good. Helping others out is for the best, after all. Is there anything important we need to know that wasn't in the orientation?

Being around the other Nanami-san helped a lot. I didn't think that would be my reaction to seeing another me, but... It's been confusing, but it feels nice for some reason.

[She nods to the rest of what Nidai says, though. That's just like Nidai-kun. She's glad he's been able to forge some bonds since he's been here.

And she'll let him answer the other Nanami's question first, but she'll also have one of her own.] Also... Since you've been here, have you run into anyone with a situation like ours, where there seems to be two or more of the same person?

[Nidai takes a moment to pick at his ear as he thinks over their questions.]

I'm glad that the two of you are finding comfort with each other. As for your questions!

First of all... hm, well there's definitely something suspicious about this ship! Recently, we stopped at a planet, and a number of crewmates took part in missions there. I don't have much of an idea of what happened next, but somehow the planet's civilizations ended up being wiped out. There's no clue who could be behind it, but we should be on our guard, especially when it comes to whoever runs this ship.

And secondly, no! I can't say I've ever met two or more of the same person before! This seems like a very unique situation.

Suspicious?

[ Nanami echoes the word with raised brows, clearly wondering what, specifically Nidai thought was suspicious about the ship. ]

Hm... [ Resting a hand under her chin, Nanami herself tries to think on it a little. ] What was the planet like? Do you know, Nidai-kun?

[ She's rather curious, and more importantly, it's rather surreal to hear that a whole planet's civilization just got wiped out, just like that. But she'll definitely keep that in the back of her mind. ]

It sounds dangerous, though. [ Just like on the island. ] It's good that you're safe, considering how dangerous everything sounds... I think.

[Nanami hums her agreement, albeit a little worriedly.] Thank goodness you're okay, Nidai-kun...

[This is the kind of place they've ended up in? Where dangerous things like this are taking place?

...They really need to get home, where it's safe.]

We should try to work towards getting home, probably. It might not be good for us to stay here for too long if those are the kinds of things happening here.

It... would be nice to figure out what's going on with there being two of us before that. [She nods at the other Nanami.] But it would be worse if we were in unnecessary danger. If this ship is going around to different places, is there any chance that maybe it'll go near Earth?

It was a desert planet that was inhabited by two different civilizations: the Trilk and the Feks. They're each incredible species that look more like dinosaurs than anything, and their surviving refugees are living elsewhere on the ship. But from what I know, there hasn't been any idea of what force launched the attacks that devastated the planet.

[He pauses for a moment as he considers the other Nanami's point. Getting home is certainly a good goal, although Nekomaru isn't too keen to return to what is most likely his death.]

Getting everyone back home is an admirable home, as long as it can be done safety. [And if he had his way, he would do it in a way that would keep any number of Nanamis safe from the killing game.] As for the chances of approaching Earth... Your guess is as good as mine. For all we know, we could be many light years or even entire universes away from home.

I see...

[ She will definitely keep that in mind, but when Nidai finally mentions the words 'getting everyone back home', she can't help but lower her gaze drop somewhat, knowing full well that going back also means that she goes back to not only being dead, but not existing. But she won't say that aloud. ]

I think we'll get there eventually, though. Even if it takes a while. So it's okay. We'll figure things out somehow and get everyone back. I believe we will.

[She smiles at the other Nanami.] You're definitely right, Nanami-san. I believe that too, very strongly...

[Nanami folds her hands over her chests, dividing her attention between the two of them.] Yes... Now that we're together, we'll definitely be okay. Even if some things are uncertain, we'll find a way to work things out for sure.

[He wonders if he imagined that brief downward look one of the Nanamis exhibited. But he's not sure what he makes of it, so after they've both said their peace, he just proceeds to guffaw lightheartedly.]

Gahaha! Now that's the spirit. Even in stereo, the two of you are as reassuring as always! I'm sure we'll figure something out...

Anyway! I'll be here if either or both of you need help settling in! Just remember to call out for NEKOMARU NIDAI!
