Emil // Bajikan // Mid-March
As they step into the boat, Yuuri drops his duffel bag carefully onto the seat beside him and smiles at Emil.]
Why don't you pick a direction? Apparently there's smaller islands whichever way you end up going.
no subject
Really? Anywhere I want? Okay, hmm, how about... that way?
[Eager to get underway, he leans over the side of the boat and points. This whole picnic thing is new to him, and he's excited to get started.]
no subject
I think that means "yes". [As the boat pulls away from the docks, Yuuri fiddles with his wrist device and takes pictures of the main island in its dazzling glory.]
Lucky we got here earlier--we get to have the boat to ourselves. Or maybe most of the tourists visiting Bajikan just prefer to stay in the main districts?

Maes Hughes // Eluvio // Backdated
While the med bay isn't the busiest he's ever seen it, Yuuri still has to dodge around the other patients, some of which are the Fek--Yuuri gives them a quick greeting before flagging down a nurse at the front desk. From there, it's a short search to find the right room. Yuuri knocks.]
Lieutenant colonel?
no subject
When he hears the knock he looks up, quietly tucking away his notepad. He was being cautious now. After what happened back home...well he was going to be playing this one a little more close to the chest.]
Yes? Come in.
[He sees the young man with a bag, recognizes the voice, and manages a smile. They had used the audio function and Maes remembers their brief exchange and the associated username.]
Ah...it was Katsuki, right? Man that smells way better than what they've been bringing in here.
no subject
[After living in Detroit for a few years, Yuuri's fairly comfortable with letting people use his first name if that's what they're used to. He smiles as he steps fully into the room and pulls the only chair in the room closer to the bed.]
Oh. [Pausing as he hands the sandwich over, Yuuri glances at him.] Um, do you prefer being called by your title?

mid-march
He's not analyzing it much. Yuuri is a perfectly polite young man from what he knows, and if he can use some shore leave to help him on the path to seasoned traveler, then he will.
Welcome to Ira. There are weapons everywhere and people kind of like to shove with their shoulders when they walk past, and this is literally 100% exactly the kind of place Coran would pick for an outing in canon if he could, probably. ]
Goodness, they keep their districts so tightly separated on this planet! I'd normally expect a bit more spillover. Not that I mind! Makes things a little simpler!
no subject
After that, Yuuri makes a point of skittering around or leaning out of the way when someone gets too close.]
I guess it is interesting that they've separated everything like this. You'll know exactly what you'll be getting into with each district this way.
no subject
[ And just look at him already! Using his reflexes!
Coran takes another shouldering and pivots on the spot to point to his eyes, then to whoever it was that elbowed him, a few times. Can they not see he's trying to have a teachable moment here?? ]
Bit more aggressive down here than I thought they'd be, of course. [ His voice raises ever-so-slightly. ] I've gotten friendlier greetings at the front end of a Weblum! But there you are, cultural differences everywhere you go!

Jason // Bajikan // March 10
Did you already pick which bar you want to check out? There's so many of them in this district.
[He's here to have fun, he reminds himself. With the awful memory haunting him, Yuuri doesn't find the idea of alcohol as daunting as he might usually. Besides, he's been curious about this district. There's all sorts of wonderful smells coming from the many restaurants, and as long as he doesn't overindulge in the alcohol, he should be fine, right? Right.]
no subject
Soooo, avoidance it is!!!
Which means he's in an unusually chipper sort of mood when they get the news about going to some planet that has a bunch of good shit on it. Jason has already been into a few districts here and there and is one hundred percent all about this shit. It's indulging at its finest and he kind of never wants to leave. ( In fact, in the back of his mind, he's wondering if he can just... stay behind somewhere and that the ship leaves without him. Because he could totally live in Luxuria for the rest of his days, let's be real. )
Anyway.
There's about a thousand bars in this district and Jason is pretty keen on trying any of them. That's why bar-hopping is a thing and a thing he will always participate in and enjoy. He hasn't been in many here just yet, but he hopes that will change by the end of this visit. He scans the street to look at all the signs flashing and sees one nearby written in purple letters ( or shapes, he can't really tell—might be some alien language... ) and points to it. ]
Let's try that one and see how it goes.
no subject
Let's go.
[Even before they step in, music and laughter spills out from the bar and into the streets. Yuuri flinches as the wall of sound that greets them once they're actually inside. He's caught between shying away to some corner and the slowly growing need to eat or drink something. As if summoned by his last thought, a few party-goers appear next to them, pushing drinks into their hands as they draw them further into the bar. Join us! the girls tell them--at least, Yuuri thinks they're female. He isn't completely sure, even if they're vaguely humanoid.
Yuuri takes a sip of the white concoction, glancing over at Jason as he does so.]
It's not bad. [There's a touch of sweetness to it, and some spice they've added in.] What about yours?
Ax // Bajikan // March 18
So preoccupied with his thoughts, Yuuri doesn't even realize he's practically run into someone until he's forced to take a step back. Recognition fills his eyes.]
Oh! Ax. Hi. [Yuuri's finger traces at the orange coin in his pocket guiltily.] I was just... trying to decide which district to visit for the day.
no subject
[It's okay, Yuuri. Ax is the last person to judge anybody for overindulging.
In fact, Ax looks directly at the gate, then to the chip in Yuuri's hand, then back at the gate. The gate that he is heading toward himself.
The solution seems obvious.]
Would you like to visit Gula with me?
no subject
I was hoping to try some of the food in this district. It looked great when I was here last time, but I didn't get a chance to really look around.
[Because, you know, he was a little busy drowning himself in alcohol.]

Leonard McCoy // Bajikan // March 12
Yuuri studies the gates intently before tilting his head toward McCoy with a small smile.]
You said you were thinking of buying something, right? I think that means we should try Avaritia. That's, um. [Yuuri scans the main heptagon until his gaze lands on one gate in particular. He points.] That one, I think. The golden one.
SO CUTE. Seriously.
Granted, he's still a big mess after the whole fiasco with complete engine failure, so he looks a little ragged to say the least. Still, he smiled warmly at the skater and ducks his head with a small huff of a laugh.]
Fillin' a little bad for not havin' a real gift for him for Valentine's day. Especially after we got stuck locked in a room with no power or gravity for hours that day. [Angling a brow, he looks over at the other and angles his head a bit.]
Think it's got much that's unique? [Cause honestly? He's at a loss at what you give a guy like Jim Kirk.]
<3
Um, I don't know. [Yuuri frowns at the gate, as if expecting to find some answers just by staring at it.] What sort of thing does Jim like?

beginning of March (Lucas' first day)
He needs to have a shower... but he has no idea how to use one. They'd never mentioned how to use one in the orientation film so it was probably common knowledge to everyone - everyone but Lucas.
Lucas finds himself in the communal shower area on the same floor as his room, stripped out of his clothes, staring up at the shower head he's under with a look of bewilderment. It seemed like the water came from the contraption above him... but how? He reaches up to tap it with his hand but nothing comes out. He grunts his frustration to himself, the noise echoing throughout the room. Where were the damn baths? If he wasn't in space, he would have bathed in a river. It's not like he can keep avoiding washing himself either. Frankly he stinks.
He needs to figure this out. If only he had help... ]

Makkachin, come here. [Fond as he is of the poodle, Yuuri can't help but shake his head when Makkachin comes padding over to him, panting happily and wagging his tail. He's also covered in dirt. Yuuri has no idea why Makkachin decided to go rolling around the Atrium's flower bed, but there's no way he's taking him back to Viktor like this.
They stop by the showers, Yuuri pausing when he spies Lucas there.]
Oh! [In the poor lighting given by the emergency lights, it's hard to see him too clearly. Yuuri shifts nervously.] We're not bothering you, are we?
no subject
Don't let me stop you. [ They seem harmless enough. Lucas smiles a little at the sight of the dog. Meeting a dog almost makes him miss the presence of Toto, Dorothy's dog, as much as he liked to act aggravated by him. ] Looks like someone's been having fun.

Ichimatsu // Bajikan // March 18
After sampling several restaurants in the district with Ax, Yuuri splits off from his companion for some time to investigate a sweets shop while Ax heads elsewhere. He pauses when he spies Karamatsu's brother in the same shop, a low sense of unease passing through him. Though he hasn't had much opportunity to talk to Ichimatsu, he remembers the callous way he'd treated his brother when they'd spoke on the network that one time. It bothers him a little, admittedly, but here and now there are more important things to focus on--like the chocolates on display.
He eyes Ichimatsu as they both reach for the chocolate samples, giving the other a polite, if distant sort of nod in acknowledgement.]
arrives three days late without starbucks tbh,
[He didn't have a specific opinion on Yuuri, apart from the brief irritation at being scolded for how he treated Karamatsu. That was none of his business, as far as he was concerned, but he had nothing especially against the figure skater. He also doesn't even notice he's in the shop with him until they both reach for the samples, and he jolts away like he's been burned despite Yuuri's mild reaction.]
A-ah, go ahead. [He's bristled like an affronted cat, staring at the ground somewhere between their feet.]

march 14th
so far the 14th of March has been pleasantly different. they'd woken up, taken care of their morning ablations; Victor had checked in with work just to be sure he hadn't mistakenly been assigned anything for the day. the rest of the day he'd spent in small gestures of affection to Yuuri, and the promise that they're heading downplanet for dinner; he refuses to say where, winking instead of answering. most of the food he'd made the day before, but there were packages of candy (chocolates covered in white chocolate, yogurt raisins, a variety of saltwater taffies he'd found downplanet, amoung other things) tucked in the bottom of the picnic basket he's purloined for these purposes. avoiding all the controlled districts in favour of the other islands, particularly the one Yuuri had ended up 'claiming?'
perfect. especially since Viktor asks him to meet him in about two hours, along with Makkachin. he needs the time to set up the island for dinner, which is a fairly imposing task if he stops to think about it.
he doesn't. he just does.
Viktor sets up the blanket and picnic basket with exact care, deciding which way is the best for a view facing the sunset. it doesn't matter if that sunset is watching over the city or the rest of the nearby islands; he's from the land of the rising sun, after all. sunrise might have been even better, but Yuuri has always felt like more of a night owl than an early bird, and so sunset it is.
securing the blanket with four smooth, weight stones, Viktor sets to placing the white paper lanterns around the area. there's a pleasing sort of movement to them, their artificial lights flickering like candle flame, only incapable of burning the lanterns in truth. gentle shapes in the pattern of koi-like fish curl around each face, casting difficult to see patterns on the ground.
finding the flowers he hopes mean what he thinks they mean took hunting, and the closest he gets are flowers that look something like crysanthemums and roses, the white flowers strewn around where their blanket has been set up. he figures if nothing else, they'll eventually become mulch, which... helps something.
a single fabric red rose lies on top of the picnic basket. Viktor pulls out the chill champagne and sets it in a ice bucket he tucks off to the side of the blanket. it slowly sweats, kept cool by the ice bucket (in which there is no actual ice).
and then it's time. he stands, barefoot, wearing pants that clung to his hips and buttocks, falling loose along the length of his legs; his shirt is white under his loose fitting sweater, knit and a deep blue-grey. he smiles, lifting his hand and waving enthusiastically at both Yuuri and Makkachin, other hand cupped around his mouth. )
Yuuri! Makkachin! Over here!
no subject
Before he reaches the blanket, Yuuri pauses, taking a moment to appreciate the way Viktor looks in the softer sunset glow. Makkachin's already rolling around in the grass by the time Yuuri finally reaches them.]
I'm impressed. [He admits as he immediately leans in to peck Viktor lightly on the lips.] How long did it take you to find all of this?
