...Um... so wait, did you just eat flowers for fun? Without knowing if they did anything?
[He's not judging. Okay maybe a little.]
no subject
Oh! I took some blue ones from Acedia and some pink ones from Luxuria back to the ship with me last time, though. The natives told me they use those to make relaxing teas. [His smile is just a little teasing.] I promise I didn't just eat these without asking first.

I've been hearing a lot of rumors too. Like how some flowers can make you super confident, or stronger in a fight. I wonder how--
[He lifts up off his seat, floating out of habit, but quickly realizes the boat's sliding out from under him. Worried, he scrambles to grab onto the rail.]
Whoooa! Okay, I guess they weren't kidding when they said to stay seated.

Careful! [Even when Emil's back in his seat, Yuuri doesn't let go just yet.] Are you okay?
no subject
Haha! Yikes, that could have been really bad! I'm fine, don't worry! It isn't like I was going to fall.
[But flying after the boat to catch back up would have been really embarrassing. And kind of difficult.]
But thanks for catching me! I would have looked really weird chasing the boat the whole way.

You're right. For a second there, I forgot you basically fly around the place. [Finally, he lets go, still smiling.] Does staying in the air like that all day tire you out at all?

[Crisis averted, Emil turns his attention back to the ocean spreading out in front of them.]
Wow, this place is a lot bigger than I thought! I can't wait until we find a good spot.

[Yuuri tilts his face up toward the sky as a small flock of birds fly over them, crying out sharply as they pass. Yuuri watches them go with a wistful smile.]
Being out here on the ocean kind of reminds me of home.

[He'd know about losing control, after all. But even though he says that, there's no way in hell he would ever visit Ira.]
Sometimes on windy days I could smell the sea from the manor, but I never went. Did you live near the ocean? On the beach?
no subject
Anyway, my hometown was really close to the ocean. I used to visit the beach with my friends during the summer and walk my dog there when the weather was nice enough. [Yuuri turns, regarding Emil with a hint of sadness in his expression.] How long were you cooped up in the manor? It sounds...really lonely.

[He shudders, bones rattling subtly under his clothes.
But Yuuri's story is nice, and Emil imagines how nice that must have been. Trips with friends, having fun, bringing the dog.
He's pleasantly started when it occurs to him that that's exactly what they're doing here... but Yuuri asks his question before Emil has a chance to comment on it. Still feeling happy and a little excited for this trip all over again, he shrugs and answers.]
Sebastian and I figured it to be about 1,400 years or so, I think?
no subject
1,400 years? You were in there for that long? [With the way Emil acts, Yuuri hadn't expected him to actually be much, much older.] Wait, do humans live that long in your world?
no subject
[Technically yes, but that's another long story.]
I'm not really the same as the humans in my world. I guess the magical experiments stopped the aging process somehow? Which makes sense, I doubt they wanted to put that much work into something that could grow old and die like that.
But honestly... there's a lot I don't remember. If it weren't for the dated reports, I wouldn't have any idea! It sure didn't feel that long...
