LUXURIA
[ Most likely Re-L will only be caught in this district once or twice due to utter and complete discomfort with the entire subject of lustfulness & sex - nudity, surprisingly, doesn't seem to make a bit of difference to her, so there is that. Still, it may be possible to catch her lingering outside the gates, old enough to enter, but debating if sh's curious enough to actually go through with going inside, or -
If she's inside, most likely trying to keep her head down and clear as best she can, all while.. taking generous peeks at everything she's never seen before in her life. ]
( closed to Carolina - March 20th-ish? )
[ There's no guaranteeing that new clothes and a hood might keep someone from recognizing her, but it was worth the chance. She's curious, admittedly, as it was in her blood and her DNA, but a part of her is also just nearly twenty years old and having her moment to figure things out on a planet that can offer her all of the debauchery that a young person could possibly want. She'd nursed more hangovers in the past few days than she ever had in her 19 years of life - and she wasn't sure if she was proud of it, either.
Her diet, too, had gone to hell in a hand basket when there was so much food to try, thank the stars around them that there were some pretty damn good gym spaces in superbia to burn all of it off.
The darkly clad woman, still in her heels as always, stops outside of a window with two aliens dancing with scantly a piece of fabric between them for cover, the rest of the window stocked with every sex toy or appliance she could've ever thought of or dreamt about and -
Well, she's a little taken back by the possibilities.
- - But at least it's a prime chance to catch her off guard. ]

re-l's young and uptight and probably self-conscious about something like this, so a good person would leave her to her misadventures. but carolina's really only a decent person, so there's the dull clack of thick-heeled boots joining her at the viewing window - and carolina's half dressed up herself, her hair in loose curls instead of a ponytail, her clothing choices fitting in well enough in the city - before a pointed throat clearing.
proper greetings are overrated. ]
no subject
[ There had been every intention in her mind to completely ignore whoever it was that had stepped up next to her - that was the norm in cities after all - unless it was someone you knew there was no need for words or anything like that. Hell, in Romdeau she could go entire days without speaking to someone other than Iggy provided that no one started on that jag of "Oh, the regent's granddaughter!"
That was the plan, at least until she hears the throat clear, brows furrowing as she turns to look, as if annoyed -
Oh.
There's a moment where her eyes go wide, and the only thing Re-L can think to say is: ]
You need to get better boots.
no subject
Didn't expect to see you hanging around here.

Curiosity killed the cat is the popular expression. [ Or curiosity embarrassed Re-L - but that's hardly anything more than a detail. Suffice to say that Re-L Mayer simply could not help herself, but she'd lingered outside of the gates for a very long time before finally giving in to her curiosity. And, thankfully, she'd not even been hassled about being old enough or something that would have forced her to speak to anyone for longer than a few moments.
If they had she might've had enough time to come to her senses, but no. Instead she'd thought she'd make a quick pace, put her hood up, and she definitely wouldn't run in to Carolina, and yet here she stands.
Next to Carolina. ]
You didn't strike me as the type to engage in places like this either. Aliens peek your interest?
[ Of course Carolina would be in to aliens. It made perfect sense. ]
GULA
[ Of course, as a girl who's once lived on a diet of a certain amount of beans and sauces in order to get enough calories to get by - the idea of a district dedicated to food and drink is incredibly appealing, and, by day, it would be common to see Re-L wandering in for a meal and trying just about every exotic that one could suggest -
By night, it's either fancy meals in fancy spots where sh pretends she's dressed up for the meal, or -
Being raucous in a club after a few drinks of liquid courage to loosen her up.
Fun, right? ]
Here, yes?
No, he arrives in the district lookin' for Re-L if only to check on her after he fixed her arm up. But now that he's there, he's givin' pause to the idea of stoppin' for a bite.
Moving up to Re-L, he taps her lightly on the shoulder.] Got a moment for an' old country doctor or am I interuptin'? Just wanted to see how you were doin'.
\o/ yes!
[ Re-L, by virtue of being nearly twenty (one month away) - had spent most of her time on Bajikan to date stopping at food stands in the Gula district, trying out whatever colorful, odd food that they were offering providing that the smell appealed to her. After a diet of beans and dressing, this was like living like a queen again, if she's honest, and whn McCoy happens upon her she's trying to make eating some kind of meat off of a stick look some kind of graceful -
It's a failure, to say the least, but she does take a moment to use a hand to cover her mouth, at least, finishing her mouthful before responding. ]
No, not interrupting at all. I'm just.. eating far too much food as usual whenever I'm here.. [ Ah, sheepish for a moment. ] I'm maybe doing a little too well, at the moment - are you enjoying Bajikan so far?
no subject
Angling his head, he gives a slight nod to her answer while catching his wrist in his other hand behind his back out of habit of being in Starfleet long enough.] Well, glad your health is up. I'm sure a little good food isn't just good for us health wise after eatin' rations, but also damn good for the soul. So don't go feelin' bad for enjoyin' yourself.
[His head turns and his eyes slide over the different food stalls and restaurants with more than a little desire to go and try it himself.] At this rate, I am likely to be doin' the same soon. As for me, likin' it here? It's better than bein' up there with no power even if it is a bit on the strange side.
no subject
[ Saving face is absolutely a bad habit of hers - a compulsion or even something so trained in to her that it's nearly bizarre for her not to care about it. Food on a stick was just... not a thing in Romdeau, and as bizarre as she'd found it, it's also incredibly convenient for being on the move in a place that is so bustling and busy, day and night. She's already trying to plan out how to make coming back here to try out a club look conspicuous -
But, thoughts for later. ]
Well, if you've ever survived on a diet of beans and sauces this is damn near a Christmas dinner a thousand times over. I have no idea what the hell I'm eating but provided it tastes fine I'm not exactly sure I care.
[ She takes note of him looking up and down at the various stalls, but waits for him to address her question before speaking up again. ]
The stall three up to your right has fantastic couscous, or what I assume is couscous by how it looks - and the meat is well spiced, too. [ A pause, she swallows her next bite. ] You can say that again. I can see we'll have to be careful about temptation down here but, on the same coin, I'm also wondering if this isn't a lull before another massive problem like on Oros.
I don't see it turning out so well for our fleet, if there was an attempt on that here, though..
no subject
[He was gettin' used to most alien foods. Granted he refuses to eat anything raw or still movin'. Call it a personal preference. Instead, he follows her indications and makes note of all the stalls she's mentioning for future reference. In fact, the whole idea of eating is makin' him dreadfully hungry.]
Seven deadly sins and all. S'what all this is. In any case, long as we try to mind ourselves, hopefully eating too much will be our only issues.
[He goes silent a moment then lifts one shoulder in a shrug.] Let's hope things don't go an' turn south here as well.
no subject
What the hell is replicator food? [ It's asked casually enough, but the look on her face is almost skeptical. Of course, by the sounds of it she can reliably guess what he means, but there aren't ever any guarantees when it comes to this kind of thing. New people, new technologies, etcetera.
The mention of the seven deadly sins seems to light a lightbulb in her head, pausing with a soft noise of surprise as the realization dawns on her. ]
Oh - like from the bible? [ Wait for it - ] Now that was a boring tome to read. I think I nearly made Daedalus rip his hair out with how little effort I put in to that reading.
[ For once Re-L appears to not be in the mood for talking about things like Oros blowing up, instead waving McCoy to one of the food stands. ]
Why don't you go and grab something to eat? It isn't like I'm going anywhere.
no subject
That would be what I'm referencin', yeah. [Not that he considers himself religious. He just did a lot of readin' and well, he came from the south. They still held tightly to those sorts of things from the past.] It's more the nature of the lesson, and what you focus on that makes it borin' or not.
[Not that he's offended in anyway.] I think I might. Care for some company for a bit?
no subject
Sounds even worse than beans. [ At the very least she'd come to find favorites amongst whatever they had for some sort of flavoring - when there was nothing else to work with, what were the options other than learning to deal with it or giving up? Giving up was, most definitely, not a damn option. So beans it was. At least it wasn't something that tasted like cardboard or styrofoam - she'd leave that kind of abomination to McCoy. ]
Mmn.. not my favorite book to read. But I believe at the time I was on a tear with Tolstoy and wanted nothing to do with anything that wasn't Tolstoy. [ Too many books to read and so little time - she almost missed walking through her grandfather's grand library to make her next book choice, outside of whatever he'd banned her from at that time and place. His tastes in what she wasn't allowed to read varied from time frame to time frame, after all. ] At the time I wanted to read something that wasn't so contradictory dependent upon which volume you read. But knowing Daedalus that was most likely the exercise he intended... a lesson on contradiction.
I don't mind the company. I'll stay here while you get what you want, if that works for you?
( Closed to Sombra/Carolina - March 18th-ish? )
[ How Re-L had been talked in to this in the first place was.. well, beyond her at this point. Casual and controlled tastings of liquors had rapidly turned in to learning all the tools of the trade of binge drinking - (thanks, Sombra) - and tonight it yet another night that Re-L finds herself dragged ("dragged") to a bar alongside the other woman, dressed in something more low cut than she'd ever worn in her life that probably needed some sort of fashion tape but, to hell with it.
She takes another brightly colored drink as it's offered without a blink, really, numb anymore to the too sweet before and rubbing alcohol after, eyes screwing shut for a moment before straightening back out. Tomorrow may be another recovery day, but well, it wasn't the absolute worst.
Re-L turns to Sombra, leaning closer so that she'd be heard over the music - ]
What the hell is that, to your right, 3 o'clock?
DISASTER: INCOMING
not long enough, because she's looking right back. raising her cocktail, catching the straw with a pointed sip and a cross of a long leg.
no business tonight, just pleasure — and dancing's one of the most pleasurable things in any universe, on any planet, feeling the heavy bass in her fucking bones. god, she missed this. she's barely felt alive in the past couple of months, but between making up with reaper and having a good time with teammates (something she'd never allow herself to do if she had any choice in the matter), well...
the smile sombra aims at her is a genuine one.)
Are you trying to slip me something, or is there actually anything worthwhile to look at over there?
(yeah, she's going to have a hard time seeing out of the bubble she's currently in. you're the observant one here, re-l.)
PREPARES FOR IMPACT
[ In her typical oblivious way Re-L doesn't seem to notice a damn thing other than the fact that the cut of her dress seems to be getting her drinks faster. There's a bonus, apparently, to being well built and pale as all hell, and well.. she probably wore that odd necklace because it hangs just so to draw attention downward. Even if it wasn't the flashiest thing on all of Bajikan, there's no way she's taking it off now.
Her first attempt at entering a club had been almost like an out of body experience, if she's honest - the music had been strange and the throb of the crowd had left her almost tempted to bolt - but in a bid of using a bit of self-control to maybe get in some fun, she instead forced herself to stay and - well -
She's currently working on her fourth hangover in nearly the same amount of days at the moment drinking alongside Sombra, and that was certainly saying something. There still wasn't much to be said for her skill at dancing, but there was still time left on planet last she checked - ]
Sorry to burst your bubble but I fail to see why I would need to slip you anything if that was my intention. [ Probably over stepping her actual level of ability, when it came to being a seductress, there. By a lot. ]
There's an alien that looks a bit like if you crossed a cartoon dinosaur with a frog and I'm more than a little disturbed by it. I don't know how the hell you missed it unless you're already that far gone.
no subject
yeah, she's drunk.
but sombra does take a look down the length of the bar with an almost immediate, unladylike snort that makes her jerk on her barstool. it really doesn't fit with the classic "little black dress" image, some lacy number she's wrapped her curves in, which somehow gives it more personality regardless of the fact that she'd rather be in a pair of sweatpants behind a computer screen. eating doritos and spilling booze and energy drinks on her floor.)
That thing's fucked. I love this planet. (a swivel, flipping ombre hair back with a pointed raise of an eyebrow aimed at re-l.) You should ask him to dance.
(NUDGING HER ELBOW WITH HER OWN.)
no subject
Little girl? Knock it off. [ Had this been anyone but Sombra, and had she had any less drinks sitting in her belly - she'd have been a bit more insulted. But, thankfully, alcohol had proven to be a prime relaxer for even Re-L and the permanent rail up her
assback bone, as she leans against the bar top. She's refused to sit down for a bit now, intent on showing off those new, pricey heels she'd probably ruin stumbling back to the ship later tonight, but for now they're pristine and some kind of alien leather - ]To dance? [ Cue an expression of abject horror, nose curling. ]
You've lost your damn mind. You do it.
no subject
(snickering at her, eyes dropping to long legs. so she can't help herself when beautiful women are involved, there's no price to pay for this except maybe getting called out — and that just makes it all the more fun. or funny, she hasn't decided yet, humming at the cute shoes. nice taste.)
What, you don't think he's cute? I was sighting him out for you, not me. He's, uh...
(... SIPS DRINKS...)
Not my type.
no subject
I'm almost twenty, thank you. Another month. [ Oops - drunk enough to let that one slip out without too much thought. Either way she's not expecting Sombra to remember or throw her a birthday party of any kind - if she did, it just might embarrass her to death anyway. She may have caught Sombra looking, but Re-L is nothing but vain when it comes to her looks, and she knows she has legs for days, so..
Go 'head Sombra. For once she's not going to chastise her, so long as it's only looking.
A chuckle rolls out as Sombra calls the alien cute, shaking her head as if to say she didn't know what mad house the other woman belonged in, but she definitely belonged in one. ]
In what way? That's he's hideous, a different species, or a he in general?
no subject
(excuse the filth coming out of her mouth, she's hammered and has hedonistic tendencies.
either way, that's a date she will purposely forget, never one to make something of her friendships with others. because that's what this is, despite their unwillingness to acknowledge it — and so long as it never is, they can keep it up and let loose like this.
nice to know she has permission to ogle, though. vanity's only ever charming when worn by women.)
I can't keep this joke up, man, I'm fucked too. (a bob of her head to the synthetic beats making her feel right at home, alien electronica and binaural bass lines a trip to be sure.) Who knows, though, maybe it's both. I can't keep up with alien anatomy and, while I'm a curious woman, I'm not that curious. Jesus.
(a spin on her stool, leaning back against the bar and letting her head loll heavily. the alcohol is nice, god, so much about this feels normal.)
Feels like we're on Earth.
AVARITA
[ Every girl who comes from money's standard soothing device - spending money.
A vicious retail spender, it wouldn't be all that uncommon to find Re-L shopping all the time back in her home world of Romdeau, and once she finds the shops that meet her fancy as well as her snotty tendency toward expensive clothing and shoes? She may make any unsuspecting passer-by her bag mule, if the fancy so strikes her.
So hopefully there's lots of room to carry shoes, and lots of patience to gauge outfits, right? ]
no subject
He's also developing a appreciation for the rather aggressive approach Re-L's taken to spending her money at the shops. After spending so much time with Viktor, the sensation of trailing along with shopping bags definitely isn't a new one. Yuuri hefts one of the bags in his hand, looking reluctantly impressed.]
Do you have enough room in your bunker for all of this?
no subject
I used to live in a space that small, if not smaller, with two robots and a man.. so I should be able to. [ For once Re-L seems in her element pawing through clothes with hefty price tags, astute eyes intent on what she wants and where she wants them - whether or not a piece of clothing would be worth trying on or if she ought to just buy it and go with it. Her grandfather used to hate her shopping rampages, with the amount she spent and how long she spent at it, but she figured it was long due.
What with what happened with Oros, as well as the fact that she's literally had the clothes on her back and that weird space jumpsuit she'd been given as a 'uniform' of sorts since arriving here.
Not all options she always wanted to wear, if she's honest, and Bajikan's shopping options offered more selection than Romdeau ever had. She picks up a black shirt, shoulderless, with small bands for around the arms presumably to help keep it up, and holds it up for appraisal. ]
Yuuri, what do you think?
no subject
Re-L catches him off-guard when she asks for his opinion, though. The deer-in-the-headlights look returns with a vengeance as he fumbles for something to say. This...this is new. Though he's gone along on Viktor's shopping sprees before, his fiance's always known exactly what he wanted and happily made his purchases without much need for input.]
It's...nice? [Yuuri adjusts his glasses a bit awkwardly.] I'm not sure what I should be looking for.
no subject
[ Poor Yuuri might be in for a longer trip than intended, really. She's not the most efficient at managing her time when it came to these shopping trips, and had, previously, had Iggy along to make sure that she stayed within her time frames for each section she intended to buy in. Having an autoreiv around jut made everything that touch easier - and now...
She was slowly but surely learning on her own. It just took time and her own bit of patience.
Catching him off guard seems to amuse her, for a moment, the corner of her lip tipping up in a slight smirk. ]
Fair enough - it isn't as though you go shopping for women's clothing often, anyways... [ At least, not as far as she knew. After a moment's more deliberation, she decides, ultimately, to press onwards with her questioning. ] I'm.. curious as to whether this may show a little too much, if you know what I mean..
[ For a girl who wears high collars and long sleeves all the time, this may be an anticipated question. ] After all, I may be on a new planet and a new ship but I don't want to look like I belong too much in the less reputable corners of this place..
no subject
I can't tell like this. Are you allowed to try the clothes on in here?
[Though he's still a bit lost when it comes to giving his opinion on fashion like this, he can make up for it by taking this outing seriously for Re-L's sake and answer as honestly as possible.]
no subject
Hm.. good question. [ She takes a moment to pop on to her toes, looking a bit like a prairie dog as she cranes over the racks and other people and racks to see if there's anything like a changing room that she could see. Luckily for her she spots one out - or at least what she assumes is one, considering she's spotted some kind of alien walking in with a piece of clothing in hand. ]
Oh - there's one that way. Or at least I'm hoping ... it'll be unfortunate if not, considering the amount of aliens around there...
[ One last look at the top and she decides hell, why not? Tipping her head as if to tell Yuuri to follow her she picks her way through the racks, careful not to run in to any other shopper - mainly because she doesn't want to deal with any weird alien offenses or anything...
Thankfully, there are places for people to sit nearest the changing rooms, and there's a deft movement of Re-L's hand to point it out. ]
There's a bench if you want to sit.
no subject
I'll be here.
[Yuuri tells her, waving her toward the room. It's the strangest thing, though. After traipsing from store to store with her, Yuuri's starting to feel the urge to shop himself. It wouldn't hurt if he bought something as well, right? Against his better judgment, Yuuri gets up and flicks through a few long-sleeved shirts on display just beside the dressing room.]
no subject
[ The chances may be pretty high - after all, they don't know a damn thing about alien customs or what every day things could, possibly, put someone up in arms. It wasn't very likely, considering every being around here seemed to like the same kind of humanoid debauchery that they did in buying over priced clothing, drinking and eating, but anything and everything was possible here she had the feeling.
A nod is given at his confirmation and she wanders in to the dressing room, carefully placing her own top to the side before pulling the new one on. She takes a moment to admire herself in the mirror, adjusting the dog tags she'd been given and Vincent's necklace, before she pokes her head out of the fitting room.
At least he isn't too far off, so she clears her throat, and then spreads her arms as if to say 'well?' ]
Thoughts? I think the sleeves make it a little less... revealed.
no subject
I think it looks nice. [He smiles at her, though part of him is a little amused that she'd thought this particular cut to be revealing. Or maybe he's just used to seeing the much more revealing--but still tasteful!--outfits that the competitors in the ladies' division would wear.] It's different from what I usually see you wearing, but "different" isn't always a bad thing.
no subject
[ Long fingers pick subconsciously at the fabric, turning to the nearest mirror to give herself another few moments of consideration. Of course she likes it, but really, she'd spent most of her 19 years of life covered up like she typically was before all of this shopping mess. There's massive fits of pique either way she dresses, of course, but being able to show off a little more probably wouldn't go astray.
Probably. She fidgets to tuck Vincent's necklace in to the top, the charm hidden away again as she typically did. It's a habit by this point, hiding the necklace away because it came from Mosk - ]
I think I'm going to get it. Maybe I'll wear it out with Sombra tonight. [ She nods to her reflection in confirmation before turning her eyes back to Yuuri, indicating the rack he's going through - ]
I think that color would suit you. Try one on.
SUPERBIA
[ A little pampering will never go astray -
And after that mission on Oros? She's definitely of the mind that she's done enough to warrant the time for a bit of pampering. Spa days include hair cuts, manicures and pedicures, and facials to every little heart's content. Mission money has been burning a hole in her pocket since the ship started going on the fritz, and it's pretty clear every time Re-L steps out where there's money involved. Even frivolous spa treatments become a silly, every day convenience in the right hands or...
Just possibly the most vain teenager on Bajikan. ]
