( open ) everyone knows what has got me
WHO: James T. Kirk & YOU!
WHERE: Bajikan
WHEN: March 8th onwards
WHAT: Jim's exploring some areas of the planet, and keeping a safe distance from others.
WARNINGS: Violence, drinking, possible light drug use??? And nudity in one thread.
Falling onto a planet's orbit felt like a stroke of good luck, at last. Granted, a lot of things could still go wrong, but finally there was a chance that they might work out the power issues currently plaguing the entire fleet, and that, along with the opportunity to get his feet back down on solid ground, had Jim feeling a little optimistic.
And after that long being trapped in his ship with only auxiliary power working, he was exhausted and definitely ready for some down time.
Still, there was only so much he'd be willing to relax. While the Eluvio got a team together to try and acquire whatever supplies they needed, Jim chose to stay out of it this time. He'd keep his eyes and ears peeled in case of trouble, but honestly after the mess in Oros, he didn't want any part in it this time around. So he did exactly what a Starfleet officer would do on a brand new planet, and got ready to explore and gather information about Bajikan, so he could learn and —hopefully— take with him as much as he could about how the place worked.
It was a strange set-up, he'd give it that. He eyed the tokens curiously as he took in all the information about each of the different districts, and soon decided on his course of action.
First of all, Luxuria was out of the question, not without him being sure of how strong the effects could be on him. Though not averse to intimacy, he wasn't about to risk getting involved with anyone without consent being a crystal clear thing between all parties involved, and as much as he'd like to at least catch a glimpse of that district, he scratched it off the list with little hesitance.
As for the rest, though... well, he could be easily found in some of them, often times strolling around and taking notes, but engaging in different activities depending on the district.
While in Gula, he could be easily found at one of the many restaurants and food stands, stuffing his face with all the dishes on offer, or at various bars, going through their endless list of drinks and cocktails. At least he was a funny drunk these days, so it might be entertaining to stick around for it.
Avaritia offered a strange feeling he wasn't really used to, the feeling of desperately wanting to own things. And he indulged quite a lot there, with both the savings on his account and the nice deposit he received thanks to one special plant. He'd be at different clothing stores with piles on piles of clothes he was trying on, or the odd bookstore here or there, stacking up books he was definitely intent on buying. Yes, all of them.
He wasn't very sure about Ira, but eventually decided to risk it, if only to try and see if he could find some different weapons there. The effects of the air in the district took their toll on him quickly enough, so at one point or another he could be found around one of those arena fights, eyeing the place and possibly considering joining in, or he might even get a little aggressive when simply bumping into someone on the street. Either way, throwing some punches around might become a very real possibility.
Lastly, Superbia seemed fairly harmless, so Jim saw no problem with taking a look. Not at all to his surprise, the whole place was catered to people wanting to better themselves in a myriad of different ways, and strangely enough he liked the thought of that. He may be found at some spa or another, enjoying a weird beauty treatment, or maybe even deciding that yes, now was the perfect time to learn proper ballroom dancing, to such a level that it would shock people with how good he was. And damn if he wasn't good at it. (Strangely enough, he'd realize later on that this was the district where he felt the least different from himself. Go figure.)

oh heyyyyyy - Gula :3
[ Perhaps she was a bit of a glutton for punishment - hadn't she literally been in this bar the night before trying drinks before winding her way back to the ship or where ever the hell she was staying currently? Either way, there she is, sipping at something brightly colored for the moment and taking a look at the people and beings around the bar. What she'd found most entertaining was seeing new kinds of aliens, different kinds of aliens and sort of.. sussing out what the hell they look like to her. Most of them were things that she's only ever seen in science books - you know, frogs, other amphibian like creatures that died off in the cold and lacking sunlight.
Some, though -
Thankfully her life had been more bizarre lately than anything she'd looked at in a bar just yet. She spots out a familiar face and sweeps up her drink, moving toward Jim at a careful pace, not wanting to spill that brilliantly colored martini and waste anything about it - ]
Jim - Not working, this time around?

He's just finishing up one glass of some plain white drink, already asking the bartender for the next one on the menu, when he hears the familiar voice next to him. He looks up at her with a smile, shaking his head at the question. ]
Not tonight. Figured I could use a break. [ He picks up his freshly poured cocktail as it's set down on the counter in front of him. ] We all could.

[ For Re-L this is probably one of the more entertaining chapters in recent memory. Mainly because she's never seen anything like half of these aliens except for in her mental wanderings since arriving on the Eluvio and seeing the aliens on Oros. Of course, she'd seen the strange creatures in the caves out in the wastelands of her own home, and all of the strange forms proxies took on -
But these aliens were at times bizarre, at times colorful and just plain beautiful and it was more than a little oddly intriguing for a questioning mind.
Without even asking if Jim minds Re-L slides in to the seat next to him, the alien a seat over taking a moment to look over and appraise this newcomer for a moment before turning back to whoever he was talking to previously, Re-L taking a moment to arrange herself, as always obsessed with appearances - ]
That's the truth. Though this place may grow a little old, if we have to spend too long here while the others attempt to get the parts that they want. [ A short pause - ] Though I have to say I may feel a little worse if this planet ends in a thermonuclear puff of smoke.

Yeah, I'll take boredom over that. [ He huffs a small chuckle, taking a generous sip from his drink. ] I think there's plenty around here to keep us all entertained for a while, but I guess we can always offer to help, if the mission runs a little too long.
[ Not that Jim would want to engage in any sort of conflict. That possibility was the very reason why he chose not to get involved this time around. Especially not after what happened in Oros. ]
no subject
[ The motion of toasting comes naturally enough, thankfully, and she takes a small sip before setting the glass back on the bar top with a great deal of care to prevent any spillage. Martini glasses were just such finicky things. ]
I don't know if there's much room for boredom on this planet if you look in the right places. I've got quite a few spa appointments over the next few days - [ She figures after the Oros ordeal she might as well spoil herself a little bit. ]
After what happened with Oros I'm not sure I want to stick my hands in anything to do with missions for a little while. It'll be better for my sanity as a whole.

Mm, spa... that does sound nice. In Superbia, right? [ He's been reading up on the different districts so he figures that's where she'd go for a spa day. He's been thinking about it himself, honestly. ]
Yeah... same here. It was a mess, and I just... it's not that I don't want to help but I can't stand being part of the problem if something goes wrong. [ He'll just be ready to help out if need be, if things do go south. ]

Superbia
Superbia's the only district he hasn't really explored yet, and Yuuri keeps that in mind as he strolls down the streets pensively. It's when he reaches the dance studios that he really begins to perk up with interest. If this is supposed to be some kind of luxury district, he wonders what the studios would look like? Yuuri indulges in his rare, nosy side, poking his head into various rooms until one finally makes him stop short. He recognizes one of the students in that class!
Yuuri waits until Jim's facing him before lifting his hand in a wave. Hi!]
no subject
As the dance finishes up, they're told to pair up and try it out themselves. Jim looks around the room in search of a partner, but before he gets to he spots Yuuri by the door, and he returns the wave with a smile as he walks over to him. ]
Hey. Fancy seeing you around here. Came for a class too, or...
no subject
Oh... I think they want you back in there. Um. [His brows draw together when he realizes that all the other students have been paired up already.] What happens if you don't have a partner for this?
no subject
He looks around the room at the question, letting out a thoughtful sound before shrugging. ] Guess I'll be dancing with myself. [ Ha ha he thinks he's so amusing. ] Can I tempt you to join us and be my partner?
no subject
[The instructor, apparently getting impatient for an answer, clears her throat loudly. Yuuri jumps, and blurts out--] Okay, sure.
no subject
Great! Come on, then. [ He stretches a hand out towards him so they can get into the proper stance. ] Should I lead or would you rather?

March 13th
Or, he assumed that was what they were going to do. Jim just hadn’t given him any specifics at this point, but he trusted the man enough to just go with it. Had it been earlier in their friendship, he might‘ve worried. But in recent years, he’d gotten a lot less radical in his choices of ‘fun’ and entertainment, so the doctor had no reason to worry.
Moving along the shore, he took in the sight around him feeling a natural relaxation settling into his bones. Where the districts had their uses, Leonard also felt the unnatural influence as disconcerting to say the least. This? This felt nice. And god he loved the feelin’ of the sun seeping into his skin for the first time in a long while now. The weather was tepid. Comfortable. And without any outside forces makin’ him feel anything, he felt relieved.
Stepping onto the dock Jim had designated, he looked around for the blonde, lifting a brow in curiosity. He hadn’t done as much with Jim planetside as he normally would, but that was for other reasons entirely. Meeting and interacting with other people on the Eluvio seemed like a good idea. Best know who you were stuck in the middle of nowhere with and make the best of it. And well… he had a lot to think about that involved his captain and best friend.

Renting a boat seemed like a popular thing around the visitors here, so he did just that himself, rowing out across the water until he found something that caught his interest. It didn't happen to be the rocky island so much as one small cave he found tucked away as he went around it, and he immediately set out to explore the place from the inside out, literally.
What he found there... well, it wasn't universe-altering exactly, but it was gorgeous, and nothing in the air that made him feel or act strangely. By the time he was rowing back to the main island, he knew he had to show the place to Bones, and quickly he rang up the doctor so they could meet by the docks the next day.
He spotted Bones easily as he approached the area, and he promptly made his way there. He looked oddly touristic, in a pair of shorts and a bright patterned shirt, sunglasses and a very faint tan making his skin look a hint darker, and his hair and eyes brighter than usual. Not that it should be much of a surprise to Bones, as they saw each other at least at the end of each day, but it might just look a little different in daylight.
"Ready for an adventure, doc?" He draped his arm across Bones's shoulders, lifting his sunglasses up his forehead with a smile.

Sunlight did good for Jim. Part of him imagined a long time back when Jim lived in Iowa, he likely pulled it off just as well. The sun kissed skin made his hair look more gold, and he knew if Jim spent more time in the sun it would lighten it further. It wasn't a bad look. Far from it. Hell, he had to force himself to lift his head to meet Jim's eyes as that arm moved about his shoulders.
"Whenever you ask that question, I get a queasy feelin' that says I should turn back while I still can." Not that he ever did. He always went right along with Jim, without hesitation if a bit of complainin'.
no subject
Letting out a light laugh at that, he shot Bones a bright grin, looking brighter still when contrasted with the unusually darker skin. "Come on, Bones! This is practically a vacation planet. I promise you, this is a perfectly peaceful and enjoyable adventure. You're gonna love it, you'll see."
And this time he wasn't just trying to trick Bones into one of his crazy ventures, he was genuinely sure that Bones wouldn't regret going along. Even if he likely would find something to complain about. He always did.
Tugging lightly, he let go of Bones, leading the way towards one of the small boats docked nearby. Jim had gone with something a little better than a simple rowing boat this time, getting a motor boat with a couple of seats, a steering wheel and some room on the back where they could carry some things, namely the bag with towels, food and drinks he had on him. Climbing into the boat, he set it down on one of the seats in the back, then offered Bones a hand to help him in.
no subject
Or was it cause he just didn't really want to know? He didn't like that answer either to be quite honest. So he shoved it all away and gave Jim a suspicious look. "The only thing different from your usual coercions in that reassurance is the comment about it bein' a vacation planet." God, please tell him Jim wasn't thinkin' something like base jumpin' or something equally heinous and awful.
Even still, he went with the tug. Falling just behind Jim, he noted it had been a while since they were in the same space during the day. He'd made a point to give the guy space. What with being stuck on a ship and only having each other to talk to for half a month... he figured Jim would be dying to get out and socialize with anyone but him. That and he spent most of his time here lookin' for something for Jim... and he really didn't want to think about that process at all.
The only thing that distracted him from those thoughts was the sudden realization that Jim was holding a hand out to him. Something wholly unnecessary, but he found himself sliding his hand into Jim's anyway if only for the contact and... what gestures like that usually meant even if it wasn't meant that way. Shaking his head a little, he climbed into the boat and squeezed his hand before letting it go. "Is there anything in the water that can eat us? That's what I'd like to know." For once, he really didn't mean to be half as grouchy as it seemed with what he said. He made a mental note to head it off after that slip.

Well, the pampering is nice, he can freely admit to that.
Currently, he's relaxing on a cushy chair in a white, fluffy robe and equally white fluffy booties on his feet to lock in moisture to soften up his skin. There's some odd colored cream smeared all over his face that smells strangely perfume-y and flower petals on top of that making him look more child's art project than man. But, he hardly cares. This is the least offensive spa day he's had on the whole, so. He can't really complain. If it gives him a rash or his mustache falls out, then he'll be angry. However, nothing is currently burning or itching and his nose cozy is still attached, so, he's not going to complain just yet.
He's not alone in this room, though, and Dorian being Dorian feels like he needs to fill up the space with words. Logically, he shouldn't, because everyone is here to relax ( including himself ), but, that isn't how he operates. There's no harm in attempting a conversation, at any rate. So he would say. Which means after enough silence has passed, Dorian glances over and gives a passing attempt at a smile ( even if it's a little difficult with all the goop on his face ), keeping his tone low and even.
"Where I come from, there's a treatment where they put little wheels of cheese over your eyes. As if that is somehow going to promote relaxation and not simply smell of feet."
Dorian, no one asked.
no subject
Besides, it helps no one's trying to force him to indulge. He's doing it because he wants to, because he feels like it. And honestly, after all the crap they've been through, he feels like some relaxation is well-deserved.
A spa is still something of a new experience for him, though a very good one. If he felt any reticence about any of this, it was quickly forgotten as he started being tended to, from scented oils to full body massages that left him feeling like a lazy boneless mass on this seat by the end of it.
Frankly he's not sure how he'll get back onto his feet after this, but there's very little he cares about right now, and that concern is definitely nowhere on that very short list.
He raises an eyebrow at the remark seemingly coming out of nowhere, tipping his head just enough that he can crack an eye open and look at the guy sitting next to him. His own face is covered in a thick layer of something light purple and sweet-smelling, the seeds sprinkled over it making him look about as silly as the other guy.
"Well, people try all kinds of weird things," he mumbles with a low chuckle. "You know where I come from, there was a time when some people actually believed that drinking your own pee kept you healthy and young. I think I'd rather take the cheese, wouldn't you?"
no subject
At the admission Dorian looks outstandingly horrified. Which, as it happens, is quite difficult with all the things currently going on with his face.
"What?" And he sounds suitably shocked, too. "You can't be serious!"
He pauses, considers... and hates that he considers.
"You likely are, that's the most horrifying part. Maker's arse, people do terrible things."
no subject
Fully expecting that reaction from the man, Jim raises his eyebrows and hums in tone of confirmation, nodding at him. He may or may not be getting weird looks from the alien sitting on the chair next to his. Yes it's disgusting, he's aware.
"I wish I weren't, for what it's worth. But yeah, you get a lot more willing to accept weird habits when it comes to appearance after you hear about something like that." A pause. "The pee thing doesn't work, for the record. You know, in case you might ever wonder."
Island Tours or something; let me know if this works
"Ack--! Sorry--!"
looks great! <3
So that's how he ended up on one of these boat tours, with a bunch of people and aliens he hasn't met before. He probably passes off as just another tourist, too, in his colorful shirt and plain shorts, slightly tanned skin and sunglasses covering his eyes.
He doesn't lose much of his balance when the boat rocks, and he's quick enough to react when the person in front of him stumbles backwards, a hand moving up to rest on her shoulder to offer some leverage. "No problem. I got you," he smiles down at her, clearly not the least bit bothered. "Just don't topple over the edge and you should be fine."
Re: looks great! <3
"Thanks. Uh... Not used to boats." She sighs, examines Kirk a moment.
"So are you from around here or...?" Might as well make some small talk.
no subject
"Not really. Just passing by." Referring both to the planet and this universe at large. He hopes. "I'm with the Eluvio fleet. You?"
