WHO: Sabriel
WHERE: Around Bajikan and the Eluvio
WHEN: Throughout the event
WHAT: Sabriel tries to get used to her new surroundings
WARNINGS: None so far?

Eluvio

[Sabriel looks... well, lost would be putting it mildly. Especially since her sword and armor make her look positively archaic. She feels less like a grown, competent Abhorsen, and more like a frightened schoolgirl once again, out of her depth and not sure what dangers she faces.

Aside from conjuring some lights during a blackout, Sabriel doesn't use any magic until she gets to her bunk-she's surrounded by technology that's already erratic, no need to make things worse- but after she closes the door to her quarters, people nearby may notice the lights flickering as a chill mist seeps out from the door and frost slowly creeps over it as the air temperature drops.]

Ira

[Sabriel's mostly spending time at weapon shops, admiring the wares, and occasionally testing the balance of a sword or a knife, or asking questions about guns and other technically advanced weapons. They might be useless against more supernatural opponents, but Sabriel isn't sure what foes she might face here- or if she'll face any at all.

She's also able to make a some money here by placing spells on weapons- and healing those who've overestimated their abilities in combat. As time goes on though, Sabriel starts to get tired of this- Maybe it's just something about this place, maybe it's just that she's sick of dealing with people. Whichever it is, she's storming away, one hand already on her sword.]

Superbia

[Initially? Sabriel goes in simply to get a haircut, and to check her surroundings. But she feels... good here. More sure of herself than she has since she arrived on the Eluvio. After her haircut, she heads to the beach to watch the sunset and meditate on the Charter without being surrounded by technology.

Meditating on the Charter was soothing, and magic was something she knew she was good at. She had the raw power, all she needed was the experience and skill to fully use it. So why not practice?

By the time the sun has set, Sabriel's surrounded by shining, golden symbols, Charter marks she's linking together into an intricate pattern. It's a spell she's familiar with, but had always been cautious about casting. Now though? Now she feels like it should be easy.]

Avaritia

[Between spending most of her childhood and teenage years at a boarding school, and then becoming Abhorsen, Sabriel has rarely had the opportunity or resources to engage in shopping as a recreational activity. Here though... well, she's starting to see the appeal. There are so many things, so many clothes, such pretty jewelry, and so many things she couldn't have imagined existed, let alone dreamed were possible. Sabriel tries to restrain herself, to focus on finding practical, useful items, she found herself drawn to more trivial things. A blue and gold tea set, a locket that could turn memories into sounds and record them, a hair clip with little bells that chimed sweetly ever time the wearer moved their head... Sabriel forces herself back to looking at more practical clothes, although in this place even those seem to be finely made, with good quality material.]

[ She's not talking to him. Felix knows this. Just like he knows that she means the huragok. But just because he knows a thing doesn't mean that he's not going to be a pain in the ass about it first. ]

I'm human. [ He says it with all the confidence of someone who believes that she's talking to him. Then, after a beat, he jerks his thumb over his shoulder at the floating thing behind him. ] And that's a huragok.

[ And because it knows that it's being discussed, even if it doesn't speak a language understandable to most others, it offers one of its tentacles to her in mimicry of a handshake. ]

[ The huragok shakes back as well as it's able while Felix stands there rolling his eyes. It still creeps him out a little. Well, a lot, but only losers look like they're creeped out by big gaseous aliens.

He's listening to her, though. Except what she says doesn't make a whole lot of sense to him. Charter Mage? Felix cocks his head, frowning slightly in confusion. ]

Charter mage? What is that? Some kind of roleplaying thing?

[ Even in the twenty-sixth century, Dungeons and Dragons endures. ]

[ Honestly, Felix is expecting some sword and sorcery mumbo-jumbo that has nothing to do with reality. Orcs, somebody's clan of elves, dice, the usual lingo of friendless nerds everywhere. What he gets is something that looks suspiciously like actual magic.

Or maybe just a damn good illusion. ]

So that's... [ Flash powder? He points to the space the little light. ] What is that?

[ That doesn't clear it up for him at all. Spell, she says. Like it's a real thing and not something out of a fantasy vid. ]

Like a magic spell? Real magic? Not that stage magician illusion shit?

[ That can't be right. Can it? ]
