WHO: Beta Team
WHERE: Oros ; Trilk base
WHEN: ???
WHAT: Getting the Relic and getting the hell out
WARNINGS: none currently
[ So. This hasn't been the greatest mission. It's not the first time he's been out on one that's gotten frakked up beyond recognition. Likely not going to be the last one, either. And that's fine. Mostly.
Well, at least no one's dead.
There's been trouble along the way and Lee's body aches more than it has in a long time. Wounds are still fresh and he's got a burn on his leg that smarts like a bitch every time it rubs against his suit. The rest of the team—when they'd finally collected everyone again—isn't faring much better.
But they're here, finally. They're at the last security check. It's been touch and go all the way in but they're in the home stretch. Lee's hovering around watching for any Trilk that might come barreling through. Because he can hear them in the distance and it's probably only a matter of time.
He keeps his voice low, crackling over the comms. ]
There's likely traps inside, so everyone keep an eye out and watch where you step. Whoever sees it first, grab it and let's get the frak out of here.

Even though he's hating everything right now, he still feels like this whole thing is his responsibility, so he's hot on Re-L's heels. He doesn't care who gets the damn Relic, just that someone on their team does and they can get out. Then he hopes the whole damn base burns to nothing but ash. Because things have gone to shit and it's loud and everywhere he looks there's a commotion, he doesn't bother keeping his voice down. They're way beyond that now. ]
Go! I've got your six.
[ Which is evident by the ensuing scuffle with the Trilk chasing her as Lee flings himself on its back and takes it down the old fashioned way. ]

[ She turns for a moment to see what he's doing - pleased to see that particular Triik get taken down. He'd been a stubborn opponent, sure, but she hadn't really been looking to waste much more ammo on an enemy that was bleeding out and wouldn't be able to follow her much longer anyway. However, having him off of her tail? An immense relief. She'd have time to take care of an inspect her injuries later - right now, it was entirely a focus on getting things done and over with, on wrapping this entire mission up where she can. Whether or not she ever signs up for a mission again depends on what unfolds after they get this relic back on the ship and what the payout is -
If she's being honest. ]
Appreciated! [ She shouts back before bolting down the next hallway, knowing they don't really have time for a lot of words right now. With security down, she's thankful that she doesn't have to pry open the doors to the relic room, simply pressing the button to open the doors and approaching from there as someone experienced with wielding a gun and checking rooms. The shotgun proceeds her in every instance, at least until she reaches the item itself -
It's weighty, and after a moment to think she begins dumping unnecessary supplies from the bag they'd been given. She makes sure her link to the comms is closed, assuming Jason's heard the ladies' verbal boxing match at each other over the past few minutes. ]
By the way - we aren't telling Carolina we have this. If she's willing to consider having us all maybe sacrificed by this crew for not achieving, then I don't think this needs to be news she is privy to until the time comes.
Agreed? I will pass the news on to the others on Beta face to face when I see them, but play a good part, will you?
[ Mind games: A Romdeau fellow citizen specialty. ]

He follows Re-L to make sure she doesn't run into any trouble and stands guard outside. So far things seem fine. But he knows good things won't last. Not on this planet. So, he wants her to hurry up so they can make a beeline to get out.
Then he hears this absolute bullshit. Lee nearly has a conniption fit right there. ]
Absolutely not! This isn't a game! Are you nuts?!
[ REALLY?!?! ]
Get the frakking thing and let's go. Now!

You need to settle down. [ The hypocrisy of Re-L Mayer telling someone to control themselves is thick, even to her, remembering how many times she'd been told the same things, however - it also wasn't worth such an explosion, so far as she was concerned. It was a careful game of chess, this kind of thing, and particularly with a team lead who seemed a bit too flighty for her tastes. Either way, she loads the relic in to the bag with minimal effort, though re-fastening the bag takes her a moment since she's one-armed.
Either way, the bag is duly placed on her shoulder, and she's just as eager to leave as he is, making a brusque pace for the door. ]
There's no need to reveal all your cards before prompted, anyway.
All escape routes should be relatively clear unless reinforcements have been called in, so far as I've heard. Hopefully that sticks.

Don't. This is not a game. I don't care what kind of grudge either one of you have against the other. Lives are at stake!
[ Honestly, he's kind of at a loss how they've made it this far alive. ]
She has to know what's going on so we can get out. I'm not taking part in this pettiness.
[ He readies a fresh magazine for his gun because he's going to need to reload soon. ]
Let's head out, ASAP.

Try not to shoot him.
Jiraiya tells him to look at the bag Re-L carries. Briefly opening his Eye of Truth he does, eyebrows momentarily raising as he slips into both view and step.]
You have it. [Cocking his head in an almost birdlike gesture, he adds:] There is no sign of further Trilk in the immediate vicinity. I can make us invisible once.
[If they do need an emergency contingency plan on the way out.]

Again, it's not worth that much emotion. I have it, we are getting back and no one is going to die. [ And then she projects a little Vincent Law with a tinge of typical, asshole Re-L, waving her hand in a cut off, actually pretty damn dismissive motion she's used time and time again at her own face level, with every bit of how exhausted she is invested in it. The Vince part are the words that leave her next, not nearly as formal as she typical defaults to being. ] Cool it.
If Carolina wants us back in thirty minutes, we will be back in thirty minutes. The status of this mission dos not change whether she knows or not. We are a success and we will remain one.
I'm already leaving.
[ Another one of those heeled turns (geez, this whole attitude problem might have to be bred out of her line for generations) and she's off - with this kind of purse on her back there's no way she's hanging out in this place and waiting to get captured -
Hayatori, though, definitely almost gets shot - there's a rifle raised as soon she'd noticed the movement, face going slack and a deep breath out the sign he'd scared the absolute hell out of her. The good news is, her poker face is not completely unbreakable. ]
Are you trying to get shot? [ She can't help herself, ok, she just has to say it. ]
Yes, I do. And let's keep it that way, shall we? I'd like to be back to Alpha as soon as possible - and hope that we only need that invisibility once.

[Hayatori merely responds with characteristic stoicism -- truly the life of the party -- and asks in his soft, forgettable flat voice:]
How is your ammo supply?
[He has not, in fact, touched the guns or ammo that he was supplied with. Two knives and the grenades have been perfectly sufficient for him. Rather than leaving them behind, however, he's simply carrying them in case anyone else in Beta needs an emergency replacement.]

Which is why he gets on the general comms and lets both teams know they have the Relic. Let it never be said Lee Adama can't be petty. Though, considering all the trouble they've gone through this whole mission, he thinks he's well within his rights to share they have almost completed the mission. Now they just have to make it to the LZ alive and Relic in hand.
He follows along after Re-L to keep her back guarded and trusts Hayatori to keep eyes in front while they navigate back out. ]
I think all of us have pretty low stores left. We're going to have to grab what we can on the way out to keep blasting through.

Such a good dog for a master you don't even know. Typical. [ She snipes, (though she doesn't elaborate on what the 'typical' thing is about) as always vehemently not-a-fan of the whole obedience without due reason thing. They'd not even met and known the people they were on this mission with all that long, and the thought that Carolina may have even had the thought to abandon them to stick to a time frame?
And, well, she knows a certain Mosk immigrant who tried that and it ended up blowing up in his face, but he isn't around at the moment. It all rubs her wrong.
Much like Lee does, at the moment, but at the very least she's not going to spurn Hayatori. ]
If you have pistol rounds left, Hayatori, I would appreciate it. I've attempted the rifle one handed and it's hell to aim, though still more effective I'd rather not end up with ricochet to think about as well in my trajectories.

Here.
[Falling back into silence, he concentrates on watching their path as they head on, doing his part to ensure as smooth an exit as possible.]
